Tubby Beaver 209
you can buy pre-paid phones at the airport..........haven't seen many others though to be honest
koshouyarou 0
You can get a pre-paid phone pretty easily at softbank. Pretty cheap I guess. But I'm not sure if that's if you're actually working here and and need to have your gaijin card,
grungy-gonads 54
Remember though that SoftBank are totally rubbish.

hellyer 216
I don't really understand that last question Pete but I used my iphone this year to call & text to Oz and also to call ahead to ryoken while in japan all on my telstra roaming account. A bit dearer than at home but not excessivly so - as long as yop don't use data when roaming - that is unbelievably expensive as I found out when I first got my phone and had a grand old time over in NZ grabbing snow reports, stock reports gps for driving etc. when i got home - HOLY CRAP - the bill was AUS$720. - More than my return flights and accommodation! - and even worse - my wife, who said "why do you need a new nancy fancy phone for' - won't let me forget it Data is not your friend
Tubby Beaver 209
in recent years International carriers have been able to use the roaming function to hitch onto a Japanese carrier.......I'd remember and switch all your relevant packet things off...my mate went to the US and was using his iphone while there and came back to a 300,000¥ bill!! beaten to the punch!!
