Making it easier this season...

We have made a few changes to the photo section to try and make it easier for people to quickly upload photos and post them on the Forums.

 

You can now easily copy the code needed to post a photo on the Forums:

 

 

 

About uploading photos to SnowJapan

• You can upload your original photo 'as is', each up to 8MB in size - that means that there is no need to edit or change the size and dimensions of your photos before uploading them;
• The photos will automatically be resized and optimized;
• You can choose to either upload 1 photo or 5 photos at a time;
• You can also upload 'Panoramic Photos' that display wider photos
• You can assign prefecture name, resort name, tags and captions to your photos. These all help index the photos within the site;

 

How do I upload photos to SnowJapan?

 

Fist of all you will need to register on the main site:

It only takes a minute and it does not cost anything. It's also worth mentioning that we do not share any of your registration details with anyone... ever.

 

As a security measure and to prevent spam, we need to approve new registrations before they become active, so once you have filled out the above form, please wait a short while until we approve the registration. This should usually be done within a day at the very most but usually much quicker. Once it has been approved you will receive a confirmation email and you are ready to go!

 

You should then login here:

Once logged in, you will see a link called Upload Photo on the main menu as well as 3 uploading links on the right hand side of the page:

 

UPLOAD 5 PHOTOS - using this form you can upload 5 photos at the same time

UPLOAD 1 PHOTO - use this to just upload 1 photo

UPLOAD PANORAMIC PHOTO - use this to upload a panoramic-style photo

 

If you click on one of those links you will be taken to the photo upload page.

How do I get photos to appear on the Forums?

 

There are a few ways to do this, but the below is the simplest way to get a photo to appear in your post.

 

1) Copy the code

 

Once you have uploaded photos to the site, you will be taken to a page showing your photos.

If you click on a photo, the photo will appear full size in a popup box.

Below the photo you should see a code.

All you need to do is 'copy' that code and then paste it into a post on these Forums.

2) Insert the code into a thread on the Forums

We would like to thank people in advance for uploading photos.

 

Photos uploaded don't need to be new or from this season - older photos are welcome too, just be sure to tag them as such.

 

Photos from other sources may or may not appear correctly on these Forums, but we would like to take this chance to ask you to consider uploading photos even if you have them uploaded elsewhere.

 

If you assign a resort to a photo, it gets tagged within the site and many people are able to see it easily when looking at info for that particular resort. This helps people who are researching Japan and also ultimately helps the resorts themselves as more information gets out there. And we are happy too, it is one thing that you can do to help support us in what we do.

 

Also please be assured that we do not claim any kind of ownership of any photos that are uploaded to SnowJapan and do not under any circumstances sell on rights or distribute photos that are uploaded. In the past, magazines and other media have contacted us interested in using photos - and in that case we contact the person uploading the photo to see if they would like to persue that.

We have also added a direct link to upload photos ('Upload now') in the right hand side column of the Forums. If you click on that link when you are logged into the main site, that should take you directly to the uploading form.

Updated with another important update - the code needed to post a photo on these Forums is now displayed below each photo so you can easily copy/paste them in.
