muikabochi 208
Hi lotuselan7-san and welcome Here's a few pages to read early on perhaps http://www.snowjapan.com/e/start-here.html http://www.snowjapan.com/e/general/winter-sports-in-japan-introduction.html Easiest place/area is near where I live in Niigata prefecture. Look for the names Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma - just 80 minutes or so on the bullet train from Tokyo Station. But lots of other places just a bit further out. Good luck with the reading
Tubby Beaver 209
there are plenty within a day's trip, never mind a 3 day trip. A 3 day trip pretty much opens up all of Japans snow areas for you. Have a trawl thru the links posted above, loads of info for you
TheOriginalMyoko 0
I wouldn't want to travel too far for a 1 day. For me if I was in Yokohama I would limit that to somewhere in Niigata, the Yuzawa bit, not Myoko, Gunma and perhaps somewhere like Hunter Mountain.
stemik 14
Check out some of the package details you can get a JTB or JR....they have some good package deals on transport, accommodation (food), lift passes & ski rental. Just be careful, some of the ski rental can be out of date
Tubby Beaver 209
I've been as far up as Gran Deco and Alts Bandai in Fukushima on a day trip (night bus) wasn't bad, got there at 7am, 1st lifts and left there around 4pm.
muikabochi 208
Very long day though isn't it?
Tubby Beaver 209
Not really. It strange but gets back at the same time as most other day trip buses, around 10pm at night. I'm that whacked that I sleep most of the way back. Maybe for yourself and others like you Muika who live close, but its a bit of a trek for me wherever I go so I don't really mind
