ghostofwar 0
Anybody know if there is a skateboard equivalent to Snow Japan out there on the net somewhere? You know, like with a directory of skate spots/parks or whatever? An English-based forum like there is here would be cool, too.
Ocean11 0
Outdoor Japan is the not-even-close, closest thing I believe. You could try contacting the person who writes the articles and see what info they have. Do you want to buy a T-board by any chance?
ghostofwar 0
That website is all about longboarding... not really of any interest to me, but thanks. And that's a no on the T-board, whatever the hell that is, but good luck trying to get rid of it.
Ocean11 0
Couple of directories in Japanese. You can prolly figure out where the spots are. http://www.commotionworld.com/areaguide/actionsport/ Tohoku has a few parks. http://www.ajsa.jp/parkinfo/park_index.html
ghostofwar 0
Cool man, thanks.
soubriquet 0
There is a big park in Sagae, Yamagata.
Oyuki kigan 0
Come on down to Gunma, there is a killer indoor place in maebashi called Trickstar, and a short drive away is the Annaka Death Bowl, a 9 or 10 foot beast with a touch or over-vert.
Kumapix 0
that place is a good place to die oyuki. people skate in the parking lot next to it too (or they used to )
longboardsk8man 0
If you`re in Tokyo, there`s a basketball court near Tamachi where they`ve got a whole heap of rails, witches hats, ramps etc set up. You can see it from the monorail, left hand side on the way out to haneda...
soubriquet 0
ghostofwar is posting from Tohoku. Sagae is the best I know of. Don't trust those southern slickers.
ghostofwar 0
Yeah the Sagae park is the biggest in Japan from what I heard... wonder why they put it in Yamagata?
soubriquet 0
That's an odd question. There's nowt wrong with Yamagata, so why not? I guess the city had some money to spend, so they built a facility to entertain the yoof of the area. It's a better use of money than many of the public works I've seen in Japan. ghostofwar 0
Nothing wrong with Yamagata, just a curious place to put the country's largest skate park, since it's kind of out of the way. Until they built it if you'd asked me where the biggest skate park in Japan was, I'd have guessed Tokyo or somewhere in Kansai. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have the park in Sagae--about an hour from my house.
soubriquet 0
I'm just indulging in a gentle leg pull. To me the obvious question is why they put Tokyo and Kyoto in such out of the way places? I'm in Yamagata, btw. Where are you?
Oyuki kigan 0
If you want to talk about out-of-the-way parks, Singapore (whose sk8 popultion consists of 2 ex-pats, their kids, and the family dog) has built the world`s largest concrete monster. Wierd, especially for asia, when 90% of the sk8ers i know go to the park just to session the box.
ghostofwar 0
When did this happen? i thought the world's largest (concrete) park was in Shanghai, as of a year or so ago. Soubriquet, I'm down "south" in Yonezawa...
Oyuki kigan 0
Sorry, Singapore it is.
soubriquet 0
Yonezawa? Excellent, that increases the Yamagata contingent by a massive 25%. I hope you brought your snow boots and a shovel. Come winter, you'll need them.
