Iraq is looking interesting now.

We have proof from the horses mouth (as opposed simply to from reliable sources) that the basis of the war was lies.

We have a collapsing US military that now has fragging incidents (squaddies killing their officers).

We have the makings of an impeachment movement against Bush.

And we have international law lawyers talking theoretically of prosecution of Bush, Blair and Howard in third countries.

Very interesting. Most welcome developments.

I wonder what the Iraq war ra-ra people who used to post on here think about that now.

A fine example of pure bullshit reporting.

"SADDAM: I'M STILL IN CHARGE

Deposed dictator Saddam Hussein still thinks he is in charge of Iraq and has developed a fondness for a kind of crisp, his former guards have claimed."

and

"Specialist Jesse Dawson told the US edition of GQ magazine: "He'd always tell us he was the president. That's what he thinks, 100%.""

This is a clear attempt to make Saddam appear mad and pathetic. Of course he is still the President of Iraq, although he obviously knows he is not 'in charge' as the heavy editorial hand insinuates. But the editors are too cowardly to say that directly, so they quote some peon's ignorant expression instead "That's what he thinks, 100%." Obviously the peon is not conversant with international law, or probably any other kinds of law. It will be very interesting to see what defence Saddam presents, if he ever gets to present one. He'll obviously be presenting it as the President of Iraq, even if he has to keep up the tiresome rigmarole for the peons. I'll bet Saddam's is smarter than Bush's when his turn comes.

People accepting reporting like this as revealed truth is what got 'us' into the Iraq disaster in the first place.

Saddam is a 'clean freak' is he? Yeah, sure.

This should make you feel better about it all Ocean:

>

US President George W Bush has said that the sacrifices being made to fight insurgents in Iraq are vital to the future security of the United States. Speaking at an air force base in North Carolina, he urged Americans to stand firm on "the latest battlefield in the war against terrorism".

The rehearsal of all the same tired stuff didn't seem to go down very well with 'Murricans this time. Most reports of the speech are interspersed with criticisms from plebs and politicians. It's a bit of a shame they're only just beginning to notice that he's a ... he's a ... MORON!

Actually, the attacks from conservatives are far more trenchant and realistic than those from Democrats. Paul Craig Roberts has written some passionately stinging indictments.
