farquah 0
Anyone ever seen these fights at all? In the town of Nagaoka in Niigata, traditional fights between bulls were resumed after a series of earthquakes had disrupted the regular schedule. 3000 people turned out to watch 15 matches!!!!! A bull wins when he butts the other bull out of the ring. These fights have been designated an Intangible Cultural Asset, although some find it hard to think of a bull as intangible!!! muikabochi 208
It is a tradition of the Yamakoshi village (you know, the mountain village that got totally destroyed). Still no-one lives in the village and it will take quite some time to get back to any kind of normality (whatever that will be!). They wanted to keep the bull fight tradition going this year, and so did it in nearby Nagaoka city (actually Yamakoshi is not officially part of Nagaoka).
