  2. Introducing Geto Kogen Now We are very pleased to be able to announce our brand new 'Now' section on SnowJapan... Geto Kogen Now. As with our other 'Now' reports, we plan to be bringing you daily snow reports from the Geto Kogen resort in Iwate Prefecture. And as with our other exclusive reporting, they're independent and the bottom line is honest info. You can find them in all the Daily Report links, and directly here: http://www.snowjapan.../Geto-Kogen-Now Hope you like them. Please bear with us as everyone involved gets used to the new routines!
  3. We have today put our new 'Webcam' section online. This page has been completely re-made and now has a clean look along with handy links to relevant ski resort information and 6-day snow and weather forecasts. We intend to regularly check and update this page as well as add some new images in the new few weeks. Hope you like the changes: http://www.snowjapan...reports/webcams
  4. Our daily 'Now' snow reports will continue right through until the end of the season in each region covered. Once the season has finished in all regions, we will be posting a season summary that includes responses to some of the questions that we get asked a lot, and responses to some comments that have been sent in during the season. That will be in early May, so stay tuned!
  5. 2016-2017 Site Updates: DAILY REPORTS Brand new ‘Daily Reports’ section for 2016-2017 DAILY REPORTS SECTION http://www.snowjapan.com/japan-daily-snow-weather-reports Our daily reports have a new look and there is a lot more data presented on the reports. Most of the new stuff is based on the daily ‘observed new snowfall’ number – so it has always been there, but rather than hiding in the archives it’s all up front in new tables, charts and graphs. Be sure to check out the brand ‘Snowfall Analysis’ page for each report – see the tab at the top of the report. Each archive
  6. SNOW DEPTH UPDATES 毎日積雪情報 きょうからスタート! Starting today The daily updates of (official*) snow depth data for 350+ ski resorts around Japan have now started. 7. Until now this season you have been able to check out the official snow depths at ski resorts and play around with sorting of that data in the Prefecture listings on the site. You didn't know?! Well just to recap: Go to our Resorts section of the main site: http://www.snowjapan...pan-ski-resorts OK on the left side you will see a list of prefectures. Click on one, for example Nagano: http://www.snowjapan...efecture/nagano Sugoi! Look, there's all the ski jo in Nagano! See the top of the columns? Click on any of those to sort the data by that field. Click on it again to s
  8. We have begun the process of putting the new site online. There's a lot involved and during the process there will be some time when the main site is unavailable. During those periods the Forums will also be turned off. It's unclear how long this will all take as lots of testing is involved. Obviously we want to get it sorted as quickly as possible and will work to do that. Sorry for the interruptions. Thanks
  9. Quite note here to let you know if you haven't already noticed that we will be moving tomorrow. We'll keep you posted with updates on how Bob (the tech dude) is doing when the Forums are closed. More info here: http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/21856-forums-maintenance-this-week/
  10. Introducing SnowJapanResorts www.snowjapanresorts.com Last season we introduced an improved Resort Search feature on our main site. While that was an improvement, we still wanted to try and find a way to move away from the idea of a basic search form and have spent time since then thinking through how we could further improve the experience. We wanted something that was more visual. Something that was more useful. Something that allowed for much more detailed and flexible searches. And something that was simple and fun to use at the same time. SnowJapanResorts is the result of th
  11. Hi there If you look top right you should see that 'Calendar' is back up there. You* can now add info about your trips on there if you like - a one-off date, a number of days (start-end). http://www.snowjapan...x.php/calendar/ This may or may not be of interest to the community - we don't know if this will be something people want to do or not, so we're just trying it out really. So, there we go.... feel free to use if it you like! We will also for now be putting links to the daily Now Calendar pages on the calendar as well. Always looking for extra things to do each day!
  12. Those of you who have previously downloaded our SnowJapan App for iPhone/iPad will soon be getting a message that a new updated version is availalble, from today. This is not a major update - we just needed to make changes because of the server move, but we have also added in the new SnowJapan logo as well as making a few small fixes.
  13. Good morning. OK, I have a bit of news to post. As you may or may not be aware, over the last six months or so we have made a number of major changes to SnowJapan. First of all there was these new Forums back in September, followed by us launching new functionality like Route Finder, and then the new SnowJapanResorts website. There are some more big changes ahead, actually very likely they will be the biggest changes so far, and in preparation for these things we need to make a server move. This will be a pretty major upgrade to our home environment, which should see us good fo

  15. Hi everyone Just want to post this news on here --- we are currently experiencing some issues with the connection for our SnowJapan iPhone / iPad / Android App.... if you use that, you may well encounter problems. We are working on this and hope to get it fixed up as quickly as possible. Also, next week we are going to be moving our main snowjapan.com to a new server. It's going to be a big and complex move but necessary as we move forward and make plans and develop our plans for next season. There may well be a bit of downtime, though we will keep that to a minimum. Obviously it i
  16. As the season gets underway, I thought I would clean up the top of the Snow Talk section and bring together all the news of our 11/12 updates into one topic. So here we are First of all the new Forums and subsequent updates http://www.snowjapan...ngoing-updates/ Next up it was SnowJapan Route Finder: http://www.snowjapan...n-route-finder/ Then we put our new Japan snow resort search site SnowJapanResorts online: http://www.snowjapan...owjapanresorts/ And then our snow depth data started updating for the season: http://www.snowjapan...-contacting-us/ A few other thin

  18. SnowJapan on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ You might have noticed a new link button up top next to the Contact form. Yes, it might well have taken us longer than perhaps it should, but at last we have an official presence on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Honestly, personally I would prefer we concentrate our energies on making our own website the best it can be, rather than keep multiple other pages going. And indeed we have been very busy with some upcoming updates - hopefully coming up within a week. But, we also understand the importance of having these pages up and running.
  19. Introducing SnowJapan Route Finder In October 2010 we introduced individual map pages for every ski and snowboard resort listed in our Resorts section and all of the accommodations listed on the Places to Stay section of SnowJapan. This year we introduce a way to find directions and plan routes to and from ski resorts, hotels or indeed any address in Japan. We hope that people will find this new Route Finder functionality to provide a lot of fun as well as being useful --- even for people who do not use cars for their journeys. Ever wondered where Hakuba is in relation to Nozawa Onsen?
  20. It has been over a month since the new Forums went live - hope you are enjoying them - so I thought it was time to post about some other new updates that have gone live today. RESORTS SECTION http://www.snowjapan...orts/index.html E We have made some fairly extensive changes to the Resorts section of the site - things that might not be quite so obvious at first, but I will explain what we have done here. Slimming down Over the last few months we have been going through our database of resorts and made a few decisions regarding old ski resorts in Japan that are either long-term clos
