More snow but accompanied by a pretty strong wind event. 10-15cm layer on top of goodness.
Couple of pics from 'training' yesterday.

No way! Sasa's all gone? Already?!
Still showing through, but easily avoidable.
More terrain COULD and SHOULD be open. -
What a classic ad that was. Thick, thick scally accents.

'Stanley' refers to Accrington Stanley the original name of the best reds, Liverpool.

Classic projectsplat. You just forgot to show whether you're 4 foot and a fart or being drafted by the NBA next season

In my limited experience, many of the 'new wave' of owners in the Niseko area are not concerned with rental returns.
They're looking for a second home in a snow-sure resort that appeals to their ability level where they can come any time they please, let friends and family use it, and see Hokkiado beyond the white season.
And in a repetition of what I've seen in the US, initially UK investment and travel was to the New England states for winter vacations.
Once that market was established, UK skiers/snowboarders 'went west'.
It is just a matter of time before this market goes south (in a good way) but for the Hakuba area to prosper they have to provide what the Western buyer wants as Go Native accurately described.

Almost. No slutting.
More 'holy shit I didn't expect this'.

I'll send one of GN if I can track him down

And it's started

It would be like the F.A. Cup - Premiership v Beezer Homes League

Plenty to go round Thursday.
Tomorrow's face shots will be in your honour

Quote:If you're in the Niseko area drop everything for tomorrow. It was mid-thigh and superfly today.
Has alternated between puking and puking hard all day.
Tomorrow will be an EPIC day on the mountain for any time of the season.
And like Hannibal from the A-Team, I love it when a plan comes together.
The turns this morning got progressively deeper as we worked our way round to Hanazono 3 chair.
Then after a hearty Ramen lunch Kath, Shaun and I headed out for dessert.
Played 'around' the King 3 chair for a couple of hours where it went from gut to nip deep. Puking as we skied down at the end of lifts. Tomorrow will be better
Apologies for the crapness of the pics, but never mind the quality feel the depth.

Just started wearing one.
Loving it at the moment what with all the Sasa and brush.

Haven't done base measurements for a while. Will do tomorrow.
As a guess, from 10cm to 80 cm depending where you measure.
And by my reckoning we've had 265cm at Village level (~300m) so far.

Welcome Petter,
Within the resort boundaries I would say no.
Outside the resort boundaries I would say yes, although many don't.
It is possible to rent avvy equipment in Hirafu (the main village of Niseko).
There are also companies that offer 'guided' backcountry experiences in and around Mt Annupuri.
As with any purchase 'caveat emptor' as many of the 'guides' are not UIAGM certified guides but experienced instructors with avalanche certifications (or not) and local knowledge of the area.

I'll second that. Delicious.
And there is fabulous Camembert ice cream from the Cheese Factory at the junction of 343 and 66.

Grandma and Grandpa.
No 'I wonder how...?' when you're in the pow.

the snow doesnt look as good as the day before at all. Keep an eye on that layer if for the next week. That could form a bit of weakness if cold and light fall onto it and firm it up.
I realise now that you are in fact Clark Kent Fattwins, what with your ability to see ski tips in any of those pics.
The snow wasn't as good as the previous day. But that's relative.
In conversation with a couple of my 'trainees' who had wintered in Whistler last Northern winter the snow was stil powderiffic, just not powtastic
The layer won't be significant in-bounds. It's been tracked to death.
But above the 3rd level of lifts and the peak runs could be dodgy until they get tracked.
The mountain really has no clue when it comes to managing the early season snowpack.
