70? That's a pretty impressive target for someone in our game. Where are you planning summer trips to? Make me jealous.
-
Hit 15 over the weekend, only halfway to my season's target... it's going to be tough.
-
OK, the answer to this one is simple.
AS Classics, on Komazawa Dori. You can get there using the Toyoko sen or Denentoshi sen. Seriously, this place has the best burgers I've had anywhere, not just Japan.

Nice report, gotta love Rusutsu.

I'm afraid to say I bottled it and went to Kagura after all. Since I was on my own I knew I'd end up getting discouraged if I went for an explore on my won and didn't end up finding anything pleasing. Was out of bed at 5:10 and at the top of Mitsumata ropeway by 8:10. That is a pretty decent turnaround for a train user, even if I do say so myself. Hiked up to the peak a total of three times but 2/3 was beaten back by near-whiteout conditions. Didn't get quite as far around as I wanted to even on the successful effort, but still enjoyed it. Was all a bit low angle though, maybe I just didn't hit the right line (I couldn't really see well enough to plan out in detail). Met a couple of British guys with a North American fellow towards the end of the day - the North American guy was planning to camp out underneath the No 5 Romance lift top station, braver man than I!
And I saw a big white mountain hare, never seen one before, that was probably my favourite bit! -
Wow, looks fantastic. Is that illegal section the face you mentioned before that has huge slides once every blue moon?
-
Thanks for the maps. Clearly most of the resorts you mention are no further from the station than Kagura really.
Just because I am slightly lost for what to do it's almost tempting to go to Iwappara and say hello to the peak in your Maiko report. But I have no terrain map and on the Iwappara course map from the resort webpage it almost looks like it is directly above some of the resort runs, which is not exactly encouraging from a safety perspective.

Thanks, I will have a check. I have been reading your reports but my grasp on the geography is a little weak. Of the ones you mention, I have been to Naeba before and didn't like it so much - and surely it will be pretty crowded this weekend? Anyway, will have a think.
I think we've lost sight of the point of this thread - hating on Samurai for being so lucky!
-
I'm open to suggestions. I have only made it to Kagura once this season as it happens, but I liked the fact that from the station it's a quick cab ride and then I'm good to go. But am always up for new stuff.
-
I'm going to have to nip up to Kagura tomorrow and brave the crowds or risk being in a bad mood until at least next weekend!
-
It's OK, I am missing out as well, you're not suffering alone.

Both fibia and tibia... that sounds pretty bad. Have you any idea how many weeks it's going to take you to get back to normal?
-
Heard from FT that someone had broken their leg, never imagined it might be a forum member. Hope you get well soon.

For example the comments about going into surf threads and commenting were actually directed at Indo, but because you had posted after Indo had and this moved the forum on to a new page it was easier to simply click reply to your message than go back and reply to Indo's. So although the post title said it was a reply to you it really wasn't. Get it?? For the most part the title saying who someone is replying to is incorrect as everyone really just replies to the last post regardless. I think this has been a bit confusing for you and made you feel the remarks were directed at you.
Oh... beaten to the mark... -

Yes, you ARE on drugs. The info is in and the jury is out.
No one said anything about the word "idiot". Who are you having this conversation with?
I mean is says in the header that it's a reply to me (or I would just be watching and laughing
at you) but your comments if they are in reply to me, DO NOT make any sense - at all.
Now, don't get me wrong. I don't want to say you're bad or anything like that but I seriously
think you need help. Either that or your browser is busted. Or mine is...
The reason it says to you in the header of FT's surf post is merely because you were the last poster in the thread when FT pressed "reply". You'll see that Kumapix actually comes between you and FT, but if you check the post times of Kumapix and FT they are close together, meaning that at the actual time of pressing the reply button you would have been the latest post. Not only that, but in his reply FT specifically mentions Indo by name as the person he is addressing. I have no interest in the argument at all but accusing poeple of being on drugs because you don't have a firm grip on how ze interweb works (not that there's anything wrong with that) is a little strong for me.
As you were. -
Might drop by if I can get a place to stay...

Does anyone know where I can get hold of it in Tokyo/Japan?

That's a horrible set of events if it turns out to be true. If it were people ducking ropes of their own volition then it would really be their own fault, but a beginner placing their trust in an instructor who then leads them into a closed zone... what a miserable situation.

I like the sound of that freezing fog. Although it does sound like the kind of effect that coats the inside of my freezer with loads of frost which I have to hack away every year or so, not much fun.

Looks like a perfect winter wonderland. Zao was one of the places I was meant to visit this season but haven't really done a very good job pulling it together. So many places, so little time...

Some great shots of our fun day in the trees! (I was the guy with the white/green jacket on same gotamas as in your pic, thought the beast was your dog...). Love the lighting on the big alpine shots as well.
This coming weekend - the busiest of the season?

The skin track up from the top quad was more like a skin highway... there were a lot of guided tours up there, must have passed close to 25 people on my way up. Fortunately there seemed to be relatively few people venturing past the top of the No 5 Romance... seems crazy skinning all the way up to the top of a lift that will open in less than a month, but each to their own I guess.
