  1. Well I got the idea since the rule rather than the exception is that gairaijin have been college educated, for visa requirements sake. I don't know if you are single or not, but if a single person cant earn 20 - 25 man a month they really are not trying hard enough. Even in University I was earning 15 a month working 2 - 3 days a week.

Then I managed 2 or 3 ski tours(around 3 days) a year. Although its not much fun, its not impossible to live off of 10 man a month.

If you have enough money to pay for a private trainer in the first place, which by any standards is an extravagant luxury. I don't think you understand the value of 1man.

That private trainer will probably receive less than 60% of that. Compare that to an English school where the student is paying 5000 an hour and the teacher is getting 3000. (may in this case be you) so `you` and the private trainer are getting a comparable wage per hour.

What price do you think is fair for a 2 hour private ski lesson? I know of plenty of English lessons that hardly scrape the 45minute mark and fill boring time with word drills etc.

Japan is an expensive country and skiing is an especially expensive sport. Foreigners do make a pretty easy living here but when the roles are reversed the seem a little shocked at the price.

  2. In yodobashi you can get some from 4000, the cheap Chinese ones play lots of things like any type of dvd-r mp3 etc.

More expensive Japanese ones actually tend not to be region free.

But don't watch some movies that are not available in Japan, that would spoil it for the "rest of us".haha

  3. "so please don't spoil it for us anymore. Thanks."

"but they respect us enough not to post spoilers."

Which "us" are you girls talking about? The way I see it there are actually two groups here, ones that have seen it and the ones that haven't.

I know I am coming off as a bastard, but I don't ask for you to restrict your posting. Also I cant exactly fathom "I don't want to watch it on the Internet" if you were a really big fan you would want the latest information as it is available.

Hell I even posted a link to where you can get the video. I just think it is a little indignant that because your choice to ignore current informant overrides mine and the other group of "us".

"That's ridiculous. Do we have to all meet you in person?"

No I was talking about online, none of you "girls" have ever really engaged me in conversation here. Except now to say not to post. Initially I wasn't out to start a fight,I posted without thinking, I was just wondering how long you were behind and a bit over excited because the Indian guy is still in it.

But the flippant way in it was assumed that I was out to spoil it for your little clique irks me.

  4. WantToSki, $100 is not that much and its pretty easy to come by for a gaijin in Japan. Winter sports have never been cheap, ski holidays are generally only taken by well-to-do people.

I don't come from a rich background, we did have holidays but skiing was always thought of as being extravagant.

But in Japan it is relatively in expensive, even if you dont have a lot of money, e.g. being a student there are plenty of packages, I have even seen a 2 day package for 7000 yen. (Bus package to hunter)

Besides if you want to do anything extra back country, ski rental, lessons, that is how resorts and business really rake in the money. You got a personal trainer, who easily could make more money if he got a group.

I have worked it out that in Japan any forum of entertainment will average 3000 yen an hour no matter what you do, go for a drink/food 3000, karaoke 3000, paint ball 3000, indoor rock climbing 3000, going got the cinema you will end up playing 3000 tickets, travel, etc etc.

You got 2 hours with a personal trainer 6000 for the training and his overhead 4000. On average it sounds about right.

I know gondolas feel like they are going a bit slow, 20-30 minutes is about right.

When I was skiing, it took 1 person 5 minutes to point out why my stance was wrong once corrected I couldn't believe how well I improved.

Besides if you want to take lessons it can be a lot better to take a group lesson for about half the price and a full day because they will take you out if the group is full or not and you could be lucky.

  5. YellowSnows cheese of the last century and the next:

    Kraft Deluxe Process Cheese Slices

J.L. Kraft first brought process cheese to market in 1915. In the 1940s, Kraft scientists recognized the benefit of offering the consumer process cheese in slices, and created the machinery to produce it. Using a "chill roll" apparatus that enabled hot cheese to quickly cool as it revolved over a cold drum, a sheet of cheese could be uniformly sliced into ribbons and then stacks of three-inch square cheese slices. Within one year of its national introduction in 1950, Kraft Deluxe process cheese slices became the most successful product introduction in the company’s then nearly 50-year history

  6. What is the point?

Well its plagiarism if you don't quote your sources.

Its like those people who give away samples in a shop, they swear by how "oshii" it is. The if you actually ask them have they tasted it. The say they haven't. Other people come along and say oh that tastes good, especially in japan as if you are told it tastes good you have to exclaim "mmm ahhh oshii". despite they are trying to hold down the gaggs.

Except with your "recommendations" you have nothing to base the recommendation on. If you gave a recommendation that was sincere (since I like cheese) I might go out and buy it. Besides all recognizable British cheeses are utter shoite.

When you have copied and pasted from the website are you going to recommend Kraft Cheeze slices or Cheese Strings next?

  7. Cheeseman what is the point of posting information on cheese that is not really available to us. Even some of the best shops here don't carry half of what you post.

Also all your descriptions of late seem directly copied from places like http://www.ukrops.com/food/cheese_shop.asp

At least in earlier ones you said you liked the taste of some particular one. Even with gouda I am sure you have tried it, its more informative to recount your personal experience with it than copy and paste.

Some of the best fondue I have had in my life had a gouda base.

  8. When you first said extras I though you meant the film extras. I have been an extra in loads of crap( I am on a tv cm at the moment) even block buster films have the worst extras ever, after doing it for so long you can identify the crap extras get up to in movies, also how shy some of them are on film.

One stereotype I have noticed is that in a scifi film black people always walk like a robot and don't know how to move their neck. I know its scifi but if you are not a robot stop being one.
