  1. whistler has everything you could ever want in a "resort". bad ass in bounds, bad ass out of bounds but still lift access. And insanley sick backcountry accessible by other forms of transport like skidoo heli and feet.

The powder day - peak chair line up show is like nothing I have ever seen.

Biking and skiiing and golfing in the same day - all that stuff.

And it it has all that other off mountain stuff too if your into it. One thing it lacks though is character, but maybe I don't notice it cause I live here.

  2. the stuff i have from japan is all from a 2 megpixel canon elfp i have had for years. I do use a proper DSLR and film SLR but most of anything that makes it to the web is from the elfp. When I Iug around proper gear it's usually with the intent of a print pubication and money.

Photoshop is the key. my stock formula for retouching pics direct from the camera is...

-resize to 72dpi 800 wide or tall

    -sharpen

    -adjust cuvers a little brighter

    -adjust levels a little darker

    -little bit of contrast

-ad some saturation (cause you loose it when you save for web)

    -save for web

I think you can do that in any version of photoshop

Also I am headed back to Jland in June for a bike trip. stoked!

  3. that was one of my last days out around two weeks back, since then I have been slaving in front of a computer...I am actually taking pictures while riding in that pic...I haven't seen them yet but hopefully they turn out.

Anyhoo i took a couple of days off the slaving and headed to this zone in the kootney's 2 days ago, It reminded so much of Japan for the uniqueness of the tree skiing. I really likethis pic...

no action here but was hit up later

nick i have been doing this all day...you use photoshop...you use the actions panel and there is record button that records what steps you do then ya batch process it...and the comp does it all for you.

it's alittle more complex that but it's not hard once ya understand it

in my case I am dealing with complex files and its taking ages....but atleast its not me doin it...its the computer
  5. the main difference is lift accessed alpine,

    Hakuba 0 Canada endless

I personaly love hakuba and I think about getting back almost every day, but days like today in Whistler when knee deep alpine lines are on, it's hard to consider living there and just riding subalpine....but i'd do it if I could.

also rocks.. lots of rock in canada, almost none in Hakuba. And it's much cheaper to live, ski and drink in japan.

  6. lifes good I guess, broke my skidoo pretty bad but it's getting fixed, I have been forced to use my feet, or if I am lucky heli drops.

hakuba girl was in town last week so that was good, other than that shootin and sleepin.

    Still have magazine

    a couple pics from today...
