hey kuma what other glass do you have? I assume that your interested in shooting shredding. If your gonna spend the money the most common used lens for snowsports are 70-200 and fishes or super wides, the range of 17-55 is not very commonly used, i almost never use that range. Just something to consider. If your dropping the doe with winter around the corner.

the stress ... is lift lines, people cutting under cliffs, slide sliping your lines, people telling you why you cant ski this and that and on and on ...buuuuuut. when your in the zone in your head all this negs make the biggest positive when you get away with slaying the blue bird pow lines. A feeling I've yet to beat weather in nowhere land on foot, sled or heli. Theres something about the hecticness that's really satisfying.
Also dont forget that the resort is only teeny percent of whats available to ride in this neghborhood. You want peace, love and pow turns, it's here and waiting.

So Ian, do you always go across your valley by yourself and wait or does someone go with you? Do you get any epic runs yourself?
I love the exposure on that shot.
what's the fstop on your lens? Is it2.8 or higher?
I've got a 4-5.6 so I'm just wondering if a shot like that is doable.
these 2 pics are from the next run which was mine.

here a better view of this zone
on return to this zone, when everyone was claiming the spine, we were digging a pit and the whole face went from the summit about arm pit deep. in the bottom left corner theres a lake and the snow rumbled all the way down to it, eye opening day.

not sure if this is the most desirable ive seen but it's pretty high up there....a pic I took last winter.
D went skiers right off the cliff into the pocket... I would like to go left down the spine.

when whistler's on you cant beat it.
if you want to get rad and ride big lines or challenge yourself whis is great but if your mellow'r and just want to ride pow and enjoy your vacation I'd suggest the interior. Whistler can be stressful on big days but if you get off on it(like me) then it's amazing.

trips been altered to just fun no work...maybe take some pics if the opportunity arises. I leave on thursday, from nartia then head south to some surf for a probly 10-14 days then up to posibly kyoto(if nicks around) and on to hakuba and niigata. Nothing in stone but I think thats what will happen.

looking for some help with car hire, would like to rent a vehicle, preferably a van in Nartita for a few weeks. Does anyone have any good links to websites that would be helpful or know any companies that would be most affordable?
Ideally I would like to drop the car in Nigaata. Not sure if thats an option?
any good experience or bad ones I should know about?
thanks

ian, when you are you going to be in japan until? and are you coming to hakuba?
Im not sure if I am heading straight from narita to the coast or going to hakuba and nigaata before then driving back to the beach. But if my thinking is right it makes no sense to go to niigata first.
anyone know any good places to rent a van thats would be ideal for sleeping? Also I think I remeber seeing super cheap sleeping bags at JusCo, Am I crazy to think Ill be able to get a shitty bag for 10 bucks? Also undecided if I should bring my tent, whats a beater tent worth out there? tHanks -
Anyone have any advice for a surfing spots in japan? for a hack.
heading out in about 1 and half weeks and going to road trip to coast and bum around. Not looking to ride crazy waves, but still like to see some. Is there any recomended routes or spots for hack and a total beginner?
Bush pig you must know something!
Thanks
Ian
