there has not been an accurate forecast here yet! I think whis is paying off enviro canada off to boost tourism. were consistently getting 20-50 forecasts but the day before it turns to 5-10...anyways its been deep almost everyday thanks to the ridiculus winds weve been having.
i should eat my words...it eneded up snowing 50 that night...obviously the shredding was super but the snow knocked out the internet for 4 days until about 2 hours ago.

If you an get an f stop up in the f11 zone or higher youll get some spanky blue skies.

What is a good aperture.( for still photography. The normal optimal point is the middle aperture of the lens.)

f5.6-f8 are the sweet spots depending on what you after for depth of field...but whatever you choose will depend on your shutter and availble light which should be atleast 1/1000s

    Any good filters?

    UV all you really need

  3. never been to Cain either , but I hear its pretty frickin eh... I have been to mt washington witch is pretty close to Cain - between it and vic and while i have never hit it when it was firing, it has crazy potential if you get it fresh. there some loooooong out of bounds tree runs there if its not so fresh.

I was just going to use that for shred shots, and buy a 17-55 for everything else. then eventually replace the zoom lens with a better one. fish would be nice but that's later.
how would u shoot shredding with a superwide (ie the 12-24, right?) -- you'd have to be right up close ie rails or a under a cliff drop, right?

so like i said, I've got the 70-300 and I'll have about 2grand to drop on the nikon d80 and one lens.

while we're on the topic, I'm looking for a camera backpack that will fit a probe and shovel. my burton zoom is hopeless and it looks like the dakine sequence will only fit a minishovel and miniprobe. thumbsdown.gif
burton zoom is the bag.... it holds tons gear, all avy gear lunch and fluid. and all tightly.
