  1. i second those msr or similar versions, there the best snoeshoes Ive used, the binding alone make them worth it, but .....

the best backcountry shoes I evev used were a home made pair of shins. like someone mention k2clicker's are so good in the backcountry. Basically, I cut a 171 board at the waist, split it down the middle mounted a voile split kit with the nohighback clickers for bindings, i rode highback clickers on my board. when i rode they were minimal on my bag and they kicked ass for covering ground, I think that year was the most I ever toured.

And if your afraid of clickers they feel much the same as toe caps.

also something to consider is what evry one else has, because if every one has differnt gear your boot/shoe pack is never clean and you spend more energy...last year i used a split but it wasnt as efficient because evryone else had snowshoes. something to consider.

  2. G7 is made by canon, its a small point and shoot type camera but with the functions of an slr, feels like and slr too, its nice. Unless your really serious about photography this would do the trick, the lens on this is pretty close quality to the 18-200 your looking at(ive never looked at that lens but anything with that focal range likely isnt to amazing), and unless you want to sell pictures you likely wouldnt notice a difference.

I think its perfect for skiing it has a 35-210mm lens and takes super sharp images...the trick is knowing how to use it though...as with everything.

I may be over in May with some friends for a bike trip but not 100%, at this point maybe 85%.

  3. you cant really judge whis by the web site or snow report or what some friend said...we have mid mountain and the apline..95% of the time if it's raining mid mtn - the alpine is firing...

i was up 2 days ago and it was good, not great but fresh snow was fun mid mountain. alpine closed do to wind ... which means when it opens its gonna be good cause 10-15 of windblown is like 20-25 here..

anyway i guess Im just saying never trust the snow report here(or anywhere)... the only way to tell if it is good is to be there.

even if the peak is one milky cloud you wont know untill your in that milk cloud.

Whistler is classic for looking like shit but riding like creamy dream!

if your losing colour...shots look desaturated then you want to...
first shoot adobeRGB (in camera) then when you do your PS/Aperture work convert it to sRGB and save for web.(in PS ... edit .. convert to profile..sRGB)

unless times have changed she comes in once a week for a dance. Pretty low budget the times I have been but boobies are boobies! I saw a guy throw a loonie at her once as hard as he could, bounced off her tit....nobody flinched not even her. She finnnished her dance and was on her way to the next arm pit town.

Revy is a sick place but it does have alot of issues...snow stability being one major, the drive there sucks when you want to be there. and the other white powder is just as popular.

I think the place will do fine its just not the paradise one may think it is. not somewhere I want to call home.
  6. thanks....I should add it wasnt all peaches and pow....the thing about currie is theres only one way out and it happens to be down a slide path, sometimes its mellow, sometimes like yesterday it is hell. At one point it bottle necks for about 200 feet at about 10 feet wide. yesterday it was about 10cm on ice, basically you slide on your ass out of control for the entire time over frozen earth and ice and some rocks, grabbing branches to slow you down. It sucked i was so unimpressed by the time I got to the bottom.

Then its merges with the main slide path which has 10 foot walls of ice on the side and the gut full of debris, postho;eing nightmare. and a comedy of disasters trying to scale the wall.

Then there a 1 km trail thats nearly covered with over grown brush, getting slapped in the face every ten feet was not fun for over 30 minutes with no goggles because it was dark at this point.

it took a couple beers to remember the fun i had before the exit.

  7. Hope you guys don't mind a little canadian TR....i know a few will be stoked on my day....

  8. I actually started a new job that has added some complictations to my snowboarding...

I have a trip planned with a friends company but the way it's puking in the koots where the company is based - it may just end up turning in to a Kootney story. If I make it, it will be short - maybe a week. But i think Im kootney bound this weekend if I finish up work by thursday.

  9. gt's a close friend of all involved.

snosurf...noboarding isnt about impressing dudes ...believe it or not its about snosurf-ing...you know having fun, watching, ridng or talking abou it...

If any ones up at FT's this winter sometime after the new year I am sending a couple mags and movies to the house.

there is actually a Hakuba story in it.
