hello,
I am wondering what the weather situation is in Tokyo and the surrounding areas in January - March-ish.
any snow in the city? wet? mild?
Thanks
-
food for thought...
the 'noboard' never said "check me out, im gonna be better than whats out there" or "where gonna take over" or "we are cool".
The noboard culture is far away from people who need to be and see the coolest new thing.(although that could change..)
Noboarding isnt about watching people in vids or TV, it is about doing and experiencing it first hand.
Its not about the industry spears or some of the other suggestions in this thread. Its actually about having fun in the mountains with out need to justify your actions.
for the record: no one has hit the baker road gap, that was sarcasm from a sarcastic shredder in a magazine.
and finally... it isn't about maxing progression, its about maxing the enjoyment of life. And unless your one of the guys pushing skiing to these new levels, than really, what does it matter?

sick kuma..
first airs were done down the dam lines years back. maybe 2.
It may be a bitch to get in Japan but if you can get the fall 07 issue of Snowboard Canada there is a really really good feature on the noshred. the pics will make you poop...
If some ones pays my ticket Ill bring out a box of that issue..any takers?

just do it...get ready for a gong show of travel..depending when your flight lands...
i came over in the same siutation...a touch of stress but in the end was pretty easy...except for negotiating shinjuku trains with my gear around 5pm. hopefully your flight lands earlier.
i went down one plattform to many...stated walking back dragging my board bag and other roller bag up...half way there and train must have let out, cause all of a sudden all of japan was coming down the stairs. i just stopped and said what the? and laughed a little...
fattwins on this site served me with all the directions and accomadatoin info i needed....i had a sickter trip...dream about it all the time...hopin again for this year.

its west bowl, perm closure when it open. what they dont know wont hurt them..
We were a litle cowboy this day but, at the same time we do our math and play the odds.
-
so they closed whistler a week ago and left blackcomb open..then it dumped in the alpine, when the skies cleared and everyone and there extreme skiing brother went to blackcomb, so we skidoo'd up whistler....dang what a day! the whole mountain to our greedy and sneaky selves, sometimes I have to admire my own brilliance
we did some test runs and the snow pack seemed decent, then a friend drop in a shoot and it went big and noisy... it was pretty van deisel everyone one was safe.
so I went into this run(far left)....freekin steller
Dave B took my advce and went for this gem of a fall line, just after the first turn, she cracked on both sides of him...I don't know how he pulled out because the slide went big, but he rode out like a champ possessed
While both dave and I were hanging out on a gnarly exposed spot(the midweek) and a death slope lingered above us, we found this angle and decided we must shoot a photo of it. lucky me, I got to shred it. (in the back you can see where it cut on dave on the last pic
we shredded some mid week
this was my last run and hosted possibly the best slash EVER,
drop in view
line view....the best slash ever was the cliff into the windrift bank, then the slope went and i rode beside the slide like I was a movie star.
we raped this place
home time
we were possesed yesterday....crazy activity going on but we had it dialed....best day on whis in a looooooong time.

sweet dizzy, look forward to hearing and seeing your pics!
-
thanks kuma but you just have to click the button on doggy that says CFR for the big mountain stoke!
-
Ive been shooting mtb alot more these days...which is fine because no one runs big mountain images of snowboarding(atleast rarely) and taking photos is bad for your snowboarding.
-
I used to but now I work as in a mtb photo related job so I when i snowboard I dont bring my camera gear out and I just ride to stay sane. that pic was in snowmobile land and I was parked on a glacier waitng my turn, but i did look for a good angle.

has anyone been to Yakushima and seen people riding mountain bikes?
I have been looking for information but have found zero.
Mostly wondering if the hiking trails would be allowed.
Any other mtb info on Kagoshima would be welcome
Thanks
