Krotch, sometimes parents like to involve their kids in their activities. Sure some of the things I have seen on the snow with babies are down right dangerous and those people need their heads read, but there are safer options.
The most worrying being the idiot that crashes into you, but that can happen in a car too so why not
"lets keeping children locked up in cotton wool?" [/QB]
I don't care who you are, there is never a need to take your 1 - 3 year old child with you while you snowboard or ski.

Take them on the trip with you, sure. Strap them onto your back, no. If you disagree with me, please tell me why. Involvement in activities? Like a 1 - 3 year old could do anything out there. There's a reason why they don't make snowboards or skis for babies. Cause they'd be worthless. The baby won't care whether it's in a supermarket or on the slopes, it's not going to know the difference.
  2. Those ski-bikes are hella retarded. Sure, it'd be fun to ride on for like...umm...an hour, maybe two. Then back to a snowboard or skis.

I'll probably try a snowblade (just sounds cooler than skiblade) for half a day or something. Nothing permanent, I'm just one of those type of ppl who like to try whatever sports are available.

I've gone waterskiing, wakeboarding, skateboarding, inline skating, bmx bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes, kneeboarding, snowboarding, skiing, etc.

I need to add in some snowblades, ice skates, and just about whatever other watersports on the beach (like surfing) to my repertoire. I like to try everything at least once.

I snowboard now, I feel it suits my style over skiing. Course, it's been like 6 years since I last went skiing. Wonder how well I'd do now.

  3. More snow on the mountains is very good. What sucks is, I was suppose to be rolling out for a trip tomorrow. Thanks to my boss, that's not going to happen. Sucks.

I went to Hakuba last Wed. That was the worst trip for me this season. Simply cause of the conditions. Waiting for the gondola, but that got shutdown for roughly 1/2 hour to 45 mins. High winds, so they didn't want to send it up. After we all managed to finally get up to the slopes, it was all ice until like noon. The park opened up around 1000 - 1100. Not sure exactly what time, but in there somewhere. It started getting better, but then it started raining at 1400. I was riding in the off limits off-piste areas, which was better than the regular trails, but even that was pretty terrible. The snow has been there so long that it's simply not real enjoyable to ride.

Course, the fact that it was raining and I didn't get time to wax my board (last minute trip), didn't help.

By 1600, the rain turned into snow and a thick fog rolled in. You could barely see 5 meters in front of you.

The park was ruined before 1300. Ppl kept falling during their landings, falling before they even jumped, falling going up to the jump, and so on. Don't get me wrong, I'm learning how to jump and can only land about half the attempts I make, but come on. I'm not a complete novice trying to take the jumps.

Hakuba definitely needs the new layer of snow.

  4. Just to let you know, stuff in Japan cost more than stuff in the US.

I can buy a brand new Custom X for $600 USD in the states and here, I can buy the exact same board for 79,000 yen here. It's just more expensive.

My bindings cost $60 more dollars here, than if I were to have bought it in the states. Course, after shipping and handling, it would probably be close to the same price, and I'd have to wait.

Next time, don't assume it's new. Ask.

  5. Wondering if anyone has seen this movie. I'm wondering if it's good or not. It's essentially a documentary on snowboarding. From the beginning of the sport to now.

It also has the best the world has to offer, boarding on the mountains of Alaska. 5 boarders, testing the limits of themselves.

The trailer makes the move look awesome too. One boarder is just moving along and causes and avalanche. You see him boarding in front of it, inside it, then right out of it. I'm nowhere near good enough to tackle 85/90 degree inclines.
