  1. I get on well with my boyfriend's parents for the most part.

His mother is slightly overbearing, always asking us when we're getting married/having kids, which does tend to irritate me. We have similar personalities but different ideals, so we tend to clash every now and then.

His dad is just a total sweetheart. We get on really well.

My parents never got on with eachother's parents and most of my friends have issues with their in-laws. It's just one of those things in life that you have to file under 'character building'.

Don't let you father-in-law-to-be get to you. If you do get worked up about it you'll end up looking like the bad guy.

  2. All the time!

The funniest one I had was during the Winter Olympics - I dreamed that I won a competition to fly to Turin and ski the downhill course.

In my dream I stood at the top of the hill and there was a huge crowd and heaps of TV cameras and I started thinking 'oh shit, I'm going to stack it in front of everyone and break my neck'... but then I ended up skiing awesomely and everyone cheered when I got to the bottom. I was like 'Holy shit, I totally rock at this!'

    Then I woke up \:\)

  3. Yeah so ever since we moved into this apartment we've been getting mail addressed to the previous tenant. Every week I diligently write 'no longer at this address' on the envelopes and put them in the post box.

One company continues to send letters EVERY GODDAMN WEEK. Not just one letter, but two, addressed to the same person.

Today I rang the company and informed them that the person they were after hadn't lived here for almost a year and could they please stop sending us their mail. The guy I spoke to told me that the person in question owed them a lot of money and that it was company policy to keep an address in the system, even if the person no longer resided at that address.

I suggested that perhaps they could keep the address in their system without continuing to send two letters every week, thus saving themselves a lot of money and a forest from being chopped down. Logical, yes?

Apparently not. He told me that this was impossible as it was also company policy that they continue to send warning letters to the person 'in good faith'... even if the letters are quite clearly not reaching them.

Sounds to me like this company is run by a bunch of baboons!

Anyone else come across stupid 'policies' like this?

  4. I was driving myself and a friend home from work this afternoon and we pulled up at a set of lights. We both glanced over at the car next to us just in time to see the driver hock up a big ball of phlegm and spit it straight out the window.

He then saw us staring open-mouthed at him and proceeded to give us the finger and mouth the words "go f*ck yourselves" at us. We were charmed, of course.

What's the grossest thing you've seen someone do in public?

  5. People drink for different reasons. A lot of my friends will have a drink at night because it helps them unwind. Drinking doesn't relax me at all, in fact it makes me quite hyperactive, so I usually only drink when I'm in the mood to party.

At the moment I'm a big fan of champagne cocktails, two of those and I'm toasted.

  6. Most health food shops here are ridiculously overpriced. The food market around the corner from my place sells organic produce and is slightly cheaper so I go there instead. I mainly buy my meat there because it's hormone and antibiotic free.

  7. Same here, Me Jane. I much prefer to stay in hotels if I can afford it. Once you've lived on your own for a certain amount of time you tend to become quite set in your ways and less able to deal with other people's crap.

Evil cousin leaves tomorrow and I am very much looking forward to her departure!

  8. Powwwers, sounds bad! I would've cracked.

I'll do my best to be patient and bite my tongue.

I almost snapped yesterday - I cleaned her room (which was filthy) and put a load of her clothes in the washing machine. When she came home she informed me that she'd have to rewash everything because she doesn't like our washing powder. Apparently she only uses liquid because the granuals in the powder don't dissolve properly, thus resulting in a substandard clean.

    Raaaahhhhhh!!!!

Kumapix, doubt I'll be needing any favours from her... unless of course I ever need to compile a report on the effectiveness of household cleaning agents.

  9. My boyfriend's cousin from the country is staying with us over Easter. I'd only met her a couple of times previously and thought she seemed very nice, so when she said she was going to be in town I invited her to stay.

    Big mistake...

Behind the pleasant facade lies a demanding and outright rude girl. I have bent over backwards to make her feel welcome and keep her entertained, and all she does is complain and criticise.

My boyfriend says we should just put up with it as she's only here for two more days, but I'm *this* close to giving her a mouthful.

Anyone else had a bad house guest?
