  1. Pros for tourists coming: The Oyagii will work it out that the tourists are going to ride out of bounds no matter what and start training thier staff properly and opening up the now out of bounds areas for riding so you dont have to run and hide from 16 year olds with a ski patrol badge.. The old coots that own happo are going to put thier heads together and join 47 and happo soon enough.. Cons: First tracks life span will diminish greatly. No more quiet Japanese night life in echoland, it will become an aussie pub strip. there are alot more but i cbf typing them
  2. yeah im in contact with mitch already, hes slowly gettin his shit together, thanks for the tip tho. I stayed with him this year when i went over. Hes hooked one of my mates up with a pension already. Just would like to keep my options open for areas other than hakuba valley
  3. Dizzy: Yeah mate going to stay at the same place again, had a ball there. Good hosts n very convinient location. FT: thanks again, i wasnt looking at heading over until around 28th Dec anyway, so i will give it a shot and see how i go. Is it hard to buy realestate in Japan without being able to speak a terrible amount of Japanese? or is there any known companys that cater for the foriegn investers an find some places for you in your prefered locality? Steve: if i end up buying a house in Japan in the next few years you can sleep on my doorstep. unless you climb up onto someones balc
  4. Ah thanks heaps, i was looking for something like that but didnt come across anything. That has answered my question in full. But if anyone wants to post some of thier own oppinions then i would still love to hear it Cheers!, Benny
  5. Hiya, I went to Hakuba in the early parts of 06 for a little over a month, and without a doubt i had the best time of my life, props to hakuba people and the snowfalls!.. Now my question to the wise ones of SJ forums is if i am looking to head over for 2 months at the end of the year (late being 28th Dec). Upon arriving whats the chances of having enough snowfall to be riding in the trees and backcountry of Happo and Goryu/47? or should i spend a week or two in niseko before hand? .. Thanks so much for your wisdom in advance
  6. To book i emailed them at this address: snowbeds@yahoo.com He got back to me quickly with no dramas. A month isnt that long. Im going to stay for 2 if i enjoy myself.
  7. Im not staying at a hotel as such. Im staying at a backpackers called Snowbeds. From what im told its a pretty good place to stay and is a good place to meet people to ride with. Afterall im not going to Hakuba to stay in a nice hotel, im going there to snowboard so where i sleep doesnt bother me too much. And there is a vending machine that sells beer right outside the door and an Onsen (bath house thing) not to far away. I havent been there before or anything, but from my own research and asking people stuff i can gather it will be a decent lodging for a month .. If your going to book get
  8. fb_steve i have been doing a bit of reading up on 47 and im thinking im going to ride there too. I will go visit happo of course, but im keen to stick with 47 for my season pass. And i will probably be arriving on the 4th now because my plane has a stopover in singapore or something. We will def catch up for beers both you blokes, a good time will be had!
  9. Misorano: I will hold you to that, i will bring you a couple of bottles of aussie wine ... I have heard the rice wine in japan can be quite lethal to drink too? i wanna try it out my mates said try habusake or something. As for mitch slapping me upside the head for getting a happo pass, i am not completely sold on happo yet, i was just going to buy a season pass when i got there and not book it or anything so i can try out 47 also and see which i like better. Most likely the selling point will be where most of the people i will be riding with have passes, but im always open to sug
  10. G'day, This subject seemed like an appropriate place to post that i am also travelling alone to Hakuba, but not until later in the new year, I will be there for a month from 3rd feb - 3rd march. I will be staying at Snowbeds. im keen to meet up with some people to ride and/or party with, im not one of the ruffian type aussies that have taken over niseko though .. Being from australia this will be my first time boarding deep powder, might even need some riding tips if anyone has any? .. I am most likely getting a season pass to ride at happo but im happy to spend the cash for a few
  11. 3 Years ago in roppungi i somehow managed to get behind the decks in Gas Panic, i was not in a state of soberness at all.. I can remember the crowd cheering when i was about to leave the decks.. Maybe it coz i was mixin up some mad tracks.. but then maybe its coz they were going to throw me out
  12. Thanks, reading that helped a bit.. maybe i came out wrong, i will be happy with just some powder an some mad fun groomers.. i dont really mind if i dont have to duck any ropes i guess.. Hell i will just be happy to be in japan an have somewhere to board heh
  13. oh yeah forgot to mention this will be my first overseas trip other than NZ, an NZ sucked when i was there.. Therefore being an aussie (not a rowdy-town runing type one hehe) i havent ever boarded powder really, or much off site stuff an never really done massive vertical steeps, but im willing to take steps to get into that type of stuff right off the cuff... So any suggestion of what resort would suit me?
  14. G'day, I have been trying my best to reseach about the hakuba area and all its resorts, but as my japanese reading is quite limited i havent got too far, on the hakuba 47 website it says it has a season pass that allows 7 other resorts in japan, is it talking about in the hakuba area as such? can anyone clarify this for me please ?? .. I am going to be in hakuba for a month or more, because im stayin a while i dont think i could afford to go on day trips with my appetite for boarding.. so i think i will invest in a season pass.. which season pass would be the best in your oppinio
