  1. that's a good question... i should check it out it turns out my sister also wants a ski... thinking of the head mojo with the tyrolia bindings or the t nine x again with whatever a good binding is. women are weird
  2. OK, I think I've worked out what to get: Skis: Me: Assassin MTX Pro for on/park 8800 Legend for pow (my understanding is it's med stiffness?) GF: T: Nine X or head monster lightning bindings: MTX Pro: not sure ? The line bindings cost a fair bit, and there weren't all that many other bindings from tramdock. Can you suggest something? 8800: Thinking of the p12 FR binding, although they suggest the lifter, i don't know if it would make much difference? Alternately, any other suggestions? lightning: would be the standard tyrolia binding t nine x would be
  3. would the assassin be too soft for a 100kg guy like me ?
  4. do you know if it's stable on hardpack / has edge grip ?
  5. ok, you guys are *awesome*. not going to rush into it, and waiting to hear back from mtlion, also talked to gf. For my skinnier ski, it doesn't necessarily have to be a twin tip, but I would like something that can carve hard/groomed/ice as well as being able to go off. Probably 60 groomed, 40 easily accessed off piste not deep, NZ stuff. From that site, Considering bigstix 7.6, head m75, assassin (thanks stag!). Not sure which of these would be best - would have also considered the mad trix, but they only have it in 163, too small Going to wait on the fats until hear back f
  6. Fatts: I might do that, I'm just about to pm him. The pockets for $900 was a bit silly, even with bindings it would be too much. Stag: Thanks for those, the shipping is a lot more reasonable than I thought it would be (I've been quoted $250usd+ by other companies). Turns out that my gf is also after some skis (she would want something 150-160 and 70-80mm in the waist I think) which makes the shipping a bit more economical she's a good intermediate - any suggestions for a fem ski? Will have another post in an hour or so with skis i'm considering
  7. rang a few more places... hard to get 85+mm can get a few 80ish... mainly (in $au): rossi scratch fs - $630 public enemy - $499 rossi B2 - $550 there's a store with lots of wide stuff, and has: elan 777, k2 recon, pocket rocket and big stix... only found out the price for the pocket rock $900 I'm probably only going to do about 1 week in nz and i can use my dying head m70s... would like something 75-85 for japan though and some NZ hiking...
  8. fattwins: any opinions on: a) pocket rocket fischer big stix 8.6 c) volkl explosiv ? (or anybody else of course )
  9. thanks heaps! know any other people/places that are good for gear? don't have to be the absolute cheapest, just a decent amount available... it's all too complicated also why is kyoto bad?
  10. I take it the guy sells a number of ex 'demo' skis from some heli operation? Could you please send me the contact details?
  11. Incidentally, do you know what the sugar daddys or stomp are like?
  12. The thing is, in third world countries, it's often necessary to use hormones and the like, it greatly increases the amount of food that can be produced from a given amount of resources. Unfortunately, it's the long term effects that are very difficult to measure, for example, is it detrimental to have people finishing puberty earlier (say 1 year earlier)?
  13. Fattwins: Thanks for such a good reply! I understand and agree (without experience) with what you're saying. The main thing is currently to actually find someone who has the skis for a reasonable price, additionally, it's hard to demo in the southern winter for something to take to Japan ;(.
  14. Yes please! When I google for mt lion, i get info on mountain lions or a mountain bike (http://www.trekbikes.co.jp/2002/ml60.html). Although if you look at that link, it offers: "Kids - Check out other models"
  15. I remember doing a report in first year uni that examined the effects of hormones vs genetic engineering for food. One of the big disadvantages of hormones is that the estrogen (particularly used in chicken if i remember) *does* result in early puberty - there were cases of girls as young as 5 finishing puberty in South America.
  16. Goemon: considered submitting echitoque for the snow japan design contest ?
  17. Got bored and did a ring around of stores near me, none of them have anything 90mm+ there's very little market for it in Aus apparently.
  18. Fattwins: I'm not a twintip skier, but i'd like to be - I'm not used to the 90-100 mm waists though, i've demoed k2 public enemy and the stockli snake. I was considering going with the M:10 + a 90+, but I don't have any experience with 90+ so I have no idea what to look for Located in Aus currently. Yamakashi: He might not need his cold night and then warm morning with exactly 2" snow with a firm base skis
  19. of course, any other ski suggestion would be appreciated - especially if it can be purchased online
  20. looking for something that can be used on/off piste - i ski in new zealand and plan on returning to japan for a month next year. Would like to do some BC stuff, haven't yet but plan to in NZ. I'm (almost) happy to buy 2 pairs of ski, one for on piste and off piste from lifts and one for park/hiking - if I can get them cheap end of season.
