yakushima was sweet! 3 days of sunshine and hiking in the great outdoors.

start off on empty beginner slopes and think about your technique. then do the same on intermediate, then advanced slopes.

Out of the older group, 2 of 4 had them, and 1 had a shovel.
didn't say if anyone in the 34-year-old's group of 6 had beacons...so are we to assume that they didn't have them?

sad. one avie-aware person in tateyama is saying, if i'm getting the japanese correctly, that foehn winds winds may have caused a steep temperature gradient on the 13th and created the weak layer(s) that went yesterday.

awesome weekend. happo-one on sun w/ kuma, ft, and kuma's friend sugi. i still have a headache and a sore throat. just pushed it. my pc at home crashed yesterday, so no pics from me for a while. leaving for ak tomorrow...rain in the forecast for girdwood
