  1. O11- Always rely on you for another angle, however acute! ;\) Similar thing am going for with the Magan Carta thing actually, going to talk about how it was more a time buying process for the King when he had no intention of actually implementing or following up on it.

As far as the Public Right of Ways goes, coming from a farm back home in UK I have my own views to give on some of he issues, especially how ramblers have been known to pretty much completely ruin our crop of wheat some years ago. However am pretty sure that the speech/lecture will soon turn into a sleep time (knowing the Japanese passion here)!!

  2. This Saturday I am due to give a two hour speech on what promises to be surely some of the dullest topics ever conceived.....Public Rights of Way in the UK and the Magna Carta!!

wakaranai.gif wakaranai.gif As hard as I try to link them the harder it gets. Some people say there is no such thing as a boring speech only broing speakers, however faced with such topics I have to disagree here!! I am struggling to interest myself let alone a hall full of 150 or so of Chiba`s "finest" minds!! The Magna Carta topic as unsexy as it is has at least some amount of interesting points but the former topic.......???

    SUGGESTIONS!!!!!!!!?????????? confused.gif

  3. Depends which schnapps there`s all sorts, apple schnapps, brandy schnapps....actually I remember having a horribly filthy night on Brandy schnapps when at uni, doesn`t leave you feeling so nice in the morning. Typical crimble drink round my home

Working with local politicians...more productive than working with animals who have been around far longer than us without our help..
True O11 working with Politicians, etc may also improve things, the fact is that the animals have been around longer than us but it is us that is killing them off, and there is a concerted effort needed by all parties and in all areas!! Animals also need a leg up every now and then as its our stupidity and recklessness that has put them in a position where they can`t help themselves any longer.

    For those interested in Ogasawara:

I was part of a volunteer work force based at the Kaiyo Centre there on Chichi Jima which is the main inhabited island of the Ogasawara Shoto. They are always looking for volunteers, my job was predominantly during Turtle nesting time which is the beginning to the mid of summer. It involved the collection of eggs from the beaches they were laid (as that increased the percentage of hatchlings to 90% from 30% if left) along with the release of the new hatchlings. Hard work often into the early hours of the morning but with huge rewards, and as I say one of the best summers I have had. The surroundings you are working in are as close to paradise as you can get with crystal waters and a tropical temperate. I have loads more info for anyone interested, mail me and I can send them details of how to get involved. In march many Humpbacks come to Ogasawara to give birth and there are lots of positions at the centre that time also. Like I say, is an awsome experiance and for a very good cause.
  5. It is sad but you can do things about it also!

This summer i took part in an ecological project on Ogasawara Islands abdout 1000km south of Tokyo where I worked with Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles. Not only was it doing something to help the planet, but also probably one of the greatest summer s I have ever had, met loads of new people, went diving nearly every day and the island is the most beautiful place I have been to. With many endemic species it was really interesting. I am going back in March for some time to work with Humpback Whales. Bring it on!!

So get off your asses and do something! \:\)

  6. Eco Bra reminds me of an idea I had at Uni. "BAB PANTS"tm. Its the end of a night and you are at a nightclub/union, you have pulled the girl you have been ridiculously dancing with all night but there is a seriuos decison to be made, do you A- Go to buy that much needed end of night feast the Kebab and lose the girl as she strolls off unable to wait in the horribly long ques at the van whilst it rains, or do you B- Take the girl home and miss put on that institution that is the Kebab after booze dinner!!!!???? Well now you can have both BABPANTS, edible kebab underwear, "Chew through the Bab to the goodness"! And for that extra je ne sais quoi try "Chili sauce to spicen things up also!" Availavble in all good toilet vending machines!!

What do you reckon do I have a winner idea or what?!! clap.gif

  7. Now not only Superman can use his Xray vision!!!! Check this story out!! lol.gif

Vodafone in row over 'peeping tom' phone cameras

THE world's biggest mobile phone company was embroiled in a row last night over an “X-ray” mobile camera attachment that allows peeping toms to see through clothes.

Vodafone is deeply unhappy about a new infrared “night filter”, made in Japan, which is fitted to its phones and causes skirts, trousers, shirts and blouses to melt away. Users said it is particularly effective on dark bikinis.

Dubbed the “pervert filter”, the device is made by a Fukui-based company called Yamada Denshi, and can be purchased for less than £100 over the internet.

It is particularly effective when used with high-end camera phones with powerful zooms and autofocus. In Japan, it is frequently fitted to the Vodafone V602-SH.

Although this model is not available in Britain, it is expected to work with similarly high-end models that are available here. The cameras are not illegal, although using them to film people's naked bodies would be.

The cameras work like a night-sight, picking up infrared radiation — heat — which is given off by the body. The body is hotter than the clothes, so the radiation that you see gives you the outline of the person being filmed.

Vodafone has condemned the abuse of mobile-phone mounted cameras, even though it is a technology which the British company pioneered in Japan.

Vodafone and rival networks in Japan have particularly focused on the potential for invasion of privacy in their “best practice” sermons to customers.

A spokesman for the company said yesterday: “This is a third-party device so our control is limited. Obviously we would never sell a phone that was enabling someone to see someone naked. That would be a contradiction of all our policies and we will do everything to stop such devices spreading.”

The official purpose of the filter is for taking pictures at night. While openly acknowledging the see-through functions of its gadget, Yamada is at great pains to insist that the technology should be used for “academic purposes”.

“We only sold these filters because we expected the night shot function would be used for taking pictures such as a baby asleep in bed, or the fine details of a leaf,” said a Yamada spokesman.

“It sickens me that anyone would be using them to take sneaky shots.”

The technology to see through clothes has always been prohibitively expensive. Now, just about anyone with a mobile camera can do it at minimal expense with these new filters.

The easy-to-fit filter is the latest gadget to have fallen instantly into the hands of the mischievous and obsessive world of underground Japanese voyeurs.

Within the past four months, two professors from the country's leading universities have been arrested for taking hidden camera pictures up their female students' skirts.

The technology that can make clothes appear transparent has already caused problems in Japan.

Two years ago, Sony released a video with a more primitive version of the night filter built in. Sony said that the filter was intended to assist camera work in the dark, but quickly became aware of its voyeuristic talents.

Sony discontinued the line and re-engineered its video cameras to prevent further problems.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police in Tokyo established a system this year that allows the public to e-mail mobile-phone snaps of suspicious-looking people to a central database.

The illegal activities of Japan's huge number of sinister voyeurs are a constant source of fear and irritation for many Japanese women. Six members of a club that specialised in “uppu-sukaato” photographs taken of women on trains have recently stood trial in a case that revealed the massive extent of the voyeur network they were part of.

Few Japanese had any sympathy therefore when, in April, a man intent on spying on girls became trapped in the ventilation duct above a women's lavatory at Kansai International Airport.

  8. My bro is coming over to hit the slopes as Christmas but is getting quoted stupid prices for flights from London to Tokyo, like 16man plus. Just wandering if anyone knows of any good agents/ sites to book flights from UK to Japan on?? And normal price for that time of year?

  9. Thanks once again for all the help and support, the search is still on at the moment, and we had the British Armies rescue team out last week conducting a widescale search, we are still waiting and hopeing on the result to be a positive one. WIll keep you all posted.

    Thanks again.

  10. Dear all SJ members and friends.

Recently a close friend of mine has gone missing whilst in the ski area of Chamonix, France. Some believe that he has unfortunately fallen into a local river and drowned yet we have no body as of yet to confirm this and it has been a sufficently long time to question this theory. This is a request for help to anyone who is planning to travel to the Ski regions in Europe, or even know of friends who are over there or are going over.

If you could take the time and trouble to visit Blake Hartley-Missing Person His family and friends and I would appreciate it greatly and all information plus pictures are detailed here so that if you are in the reigion you may be able to spot him.

We are all hoping that he is alive somewhere and if anyone can give us any information it would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  11. I have just had my first real encountert with the infamous Japanese Yakuza.

About 3 months ago I rented some video`s (3) from a local small rental shop. At the saem time I also moved appartments and unfortunately put said videos in a box to be moved. 3 months later I have a "debt collection" agaency ringing up not only me but also the school I work in. They are asking for 10man yen in late fees. I called them up refusing to pay more than 3man, and after much arguments on the phone they settled on 6man???? Does this mean they haven`t got a leg to stand on legal in demanding the money??

Today I havve to go into the video shop to pay this money (again a bit strange as if its a debt collection place surely they will have an account I should pay into?) If it was down to me I would ignore it and say I have left the country but as they have got my school involved I have a lot of pressure on me from my employers (who have been very good) to oay the money.

So today I will go to the shop and pay 3man, and see what they say, the videos I reckon are worth about 1man max and 2 man Gommenasaai money I think is more than appropriate for a genuine mistake.

My school tells me that the men are definately Yaks and I HAVE to pay, so I will see what happens today.

WATCH THIS SPACE!!! If there are no further postings then you know the Yakuza didn`t settle for my 3man!!!!!

    Anyone else had similar experiances??

  12. Still in Japan and loving the summer holidays.
