  1. Had a few problems trying to watch the Tri Nations on Sat. night and need some help on how to get streaming TV feeds (particularly sport) off the internet. I know there is AUstralian network which had it but you had to pay a subscription fee and have fibre optic web, was thinking more in the free bracket of things, being the tight walleted bugger I am! Any of you in the know about this? Am using a mac if that makes a difference also.

Also tested internet speed with free test, and it came out as 123636.4 Kbps 15151.5 K bytes/sec Is that fast or slow, it`s wi-fi?

  2. Top battle, Mantas not sure NZ were outclassed at all, OZ were made to battle for every bit of their ball with some absolute rock hard NZ defence. Only until the last few minutes was it snatched away, you have a lot to thank you child prodigy Inglis for!! NZ were ontop right until the final few.

BB- Mate top day at the rugby then in the Kiwi Bar, have to do it again some time. Ended up craning my head next to the speakers during the game as we got the audio feed sorted, felt like I should have been mowing the lawn with my radio in me ears at home or something!!! Did you get it at the sports bar? Will let you know about next weekend, Eng V NZ. Bosh

  3. BB- not sure if you will read this before tomorrow, (sat.) but it`s all on! Got in contact with some boys, a mate of mine who is rugby analyst or some malarky at Suntory swung me a few free tix also. Will be down in Chichibu for game early doors, 12 KO, then as soon as that is done on to the Kiwi Bar for meat pies and Air NZ final, followed by the tri nations which I am pretty sure KO at 7pm, but may be mistaken. I PM`d you earlier with my number but wil get in touch tomorrow morning when heading in for a day of contact and Kewel style elbow pie! Going to be a huge day of rugby size portions!

  4. Boshes and scores are two different concepts Mantas! :p Am hoping for UK NZ final, but a good game in Melbourne tomorrow with plenty of "hows your father"!

BB- Just remembered its Air NZ FINAL tomorrow as well, Welli V Waikato!!! Spoke to the guy at Kiwi bar and its all on! I will be down there from 3sih for an avo session if you are keen for it.

  5. Mate am thinking of heading down to the Kiwi Bar in Motoyawata. Its a bit of a trek but top place owned by a kiwi who also runs the wakeboarding there. Will try and find a link and post it later. They get all the sports from some kind of internet feed hooked up to TV, and you can have a mean shepherds pie!!!

Is the Clubhouse not showing it?

  6. Nabe me up! Last year in South Chiba we had some nabe and the folks i was eating with had shot some wild boar from the land they own. Tasted awsome!! And there is no other way to enjoy nabe than under your kotatsu "no pants" style (not only shabu shabu can be a naturist`s food!)!! Not sure about slurping the sauce out the belly botton though! lol.gif

Only downer to nabe is the oden slipping out of your chops and into the kimchee boiling away and splashing right into your eye!!

  7. I didn`t know whether I should have been laughing or crying at the news the other night. They interviewed a chinese man and his opinion on the DPRK nuclear test,

"The United Nations Security Council should be congratulating the DPRK on their scientific achievement..."

Well done N.Korea have a collective pat on the back from us all!

Its all coming to a head now but this has been sat on since the 1980`s when the construction of a 200MWa nuclear reactor and reprocessing plant and a series of high explosive detonation tests.

There are ways to look at it in light of previous stresses in the same area, for example during the famine. Kim Jong Il recognized that he needed to do something to avoid a complete collapse of his economy and his regime. In typical North Korean fashion, he undertook a combination of extortion, using the North's new nuclear capabilities to try to extract promises of help and aid from the world, and more criminal activity involving drug smuggling and counterfeiting. Therefore could be a sign that N.korea is again an internal crisis as much as ever.

The six party talks were expected to fail form the get go, North Korea is genuinely starved for cash, extraordinarily isolated, and truly paranoid. I expect this to be a major turning point now for N.Korea to be opened up to the rest of the world.

  8. funny I was going to post somthing about this the other day but forgot!

Sustainable snowboards and skateboards can be found here Arbor Sports

They make their boards from environmentally friendly natural fibers. Made from sustainably harvested wood, cork damping stringers and have a dedicated policy toward environmental production methods. Apparently even available at Murasaki sports this year.

  10. My firend who works for a NPO researching forest dwelling mammals in Japan has been stidying the increased use of snowmobiles in winter times, mainly in Hokkaido (similar studies have been done in Canada also). He found that the use of them over about 4 years has been increasing quite significantly and has increased winter mortality of large mammals due to wildelife displacement and expanded home ranges therefore meaning more energy expended and the loss of land normally used by these mammals, for example bears. Also samller mammals have been effected by the compacting and erosion of the subnivean spaces (space between snowpaack and ground surface) as they depend on this for winter survival. Snow compaction often prolongs the melting of the snow also and thus leads to muddy trails and roads, which are then highly susceptible to significant damage and enlargement. For the same reason, snow compaction can lead to altered melting and discharge regimes, further increasing soil erosion.
