With the other discussion going on about the messy Japanese ski villages, I was wondering how the ones in Europe and the like managed to be so pretty?
Are there really strict planning laws and the like? And I wonder why they don't exist in Japan. Shame.

Places like Arai shouldn't really count as they are the resort not the town. Kiroro too.
Other than that a lot of run down messes around. Of course, don't really care when I'm on the snow.

But hearing things like this (friend in similar situation and known of a few others) have sure made me think twice about having a bit of 'available fun' in my past. Not that I don't not like, quite the opposite. Just to think that a few minutes has ended up with all this lot. Makes you think.
Get the test dude and I hope it is not yours. -
He's slightly more animated then Englands Erikson.
I enjoyed that Czech game the other day, they did look good.
Watched a bit of France this morning and it looked really boring.

The mornings are getting on a bit now aren't they? Some much even be approaching 18.... When Idols are getting younger and younger I'm not sure if that is acceptable.

Back to the 360, some of those simple Arcade games are a ton of fun. Mutant Storm Reloaded is my favorite.

Thats just a crazy story me jane. Couldn't make it up. -
Hotel pools are as you say often empty as they charge ludicrous amounts to go in there. Some might offer a decent "season pass" though which would make it more acceptable.

It's so easy to get bogged down in it isn't it? I told myself not to but still ended up making that mistake first time. Easy to get into "panic mode" for the long sections, what I thought anyway.

How can you forget Bob?!
"No list of the worst of the worst would be complete without Windows' idiot cousin, Bob. Designed as a "social" interface for Windows 3.1, Bob featured a living room filled with clickable objects, and a series of cartoon "helpers" like Chaos the Cat and Scuzz the Rat that walked you through a small suite of applications. Fortunately, Bob was soon buried in the avalanche of hype surrounding Windows 95, though some of the cartoons lived on to annoy users of Microsoft Office and Windows XP (Clippy the animated paper clip, anyone?).
Mostly, Bob raised more questions than it answered. Like, had anyone at Microsoft actually used Bob? Did they think anyone else would? And did they deliberately make Bob's smiley face logo look like Bill Gates, or was that just an accident?"

Well I don't think it's up to much. And it would have been better on one taking off some of the filler

BBC apologizes for interview gaffe
LONDON -- The BBC interviewed the wrong Guy.
The network has apologized to its viewers for a studio mix up that resulted in a mystery man appearing on live television as Guy Kewney -- an expert on Internet music downloads.
In fact the mystery man was Guy Goma, a Congolese man applying for a technology-related job with the British Broadcasting Corp., who followed an employee to the studio after a mistake at a reception desk, the corporation said late Monday.
"We interviewed the wrong person," a spokeswoman said Monday while speaking on condition of anonymity in line with company policy. "We apologize to viewers for any confusion."
The case of mistaken identity occurred on May 8 -- the day Britain's High Court awarded Apple Computer a victory in a lawsuit against Apple Corps, The Beatles' commercial arm.
In a reaction piece following the verdict, the BBC News 24 consumer affairs correspondent Karen Bowerman ostensibly welcomed computer expert Kewney.
After she introduced the apparent expert, there was a moment when Goma winced as he was introduced as someone else. He scrunched his face in panic and tried to open his mouth as if to explain.
"Were you surprised by this verdict today?" Bowerman asked.
"I'm very surprised to see the verdict come on me because I was not expecting that," he said in a heavy French accent, blinking in the studio lights. "When I came, they told me something else."
Nonplussed, he pressed on, growing more confident in his punditry as the interview progressed. He gamely delivered his opinion on the future of music downloads and cyber cafes following the landmark verdict.
Meanwhile, the real Kewney, who was waiting to be taken to the studio, looked up on a monitor and found another man ensconced in the interviewee's chair.
"What would you feel, if while you were sitting in that rather chilly reception area, you suddenly saw yourself not sitting in reception, but live, on TV? A bit surprised?" Kewney wrote on his Web log.
Kewney, who could not be reached for comment Monday, said on his blog that he was amused at first -- but then considered that viewers would think he did not know his subject, hurting his reputation.
Kewney and other media outlets originally reported that Goma was a cab driver -- though the BBC later said the reports were inaccurate.
Producers apparently realized by the end of the interview that something had gone wrong -- and, after they had gone off the air, asked their "expert" if there was a problem.
"He said: 'Well, it was OK, but I was a bit rushed,' Kewney wrote on his blog.
Goma told the BBC his interview was stressful, but added he was prepared to return to the airwaves. He said he was "happy to speak about any situation," the BBC reported. (AP)
