  1. Fatt, sorry, I think I lost that info here. Wanna try again? I've been on Rossi B3s 2s, and a few other rossis, K2s both Tele and alpine and I still can't find that sweet spot. I'm pretty light and like a lighter ski. The only thing I've found are Tuas which went under this year. the flex is just perfect for me. Alpine skis have to be weighted a little different for me. I was thinking of driving up to Akita or down to Nagano for a weekend and some shopping.

  2. Ok so what is the deal with Mountain Rescue here? ARe there teams? Are they under the jurisdiction of the Police? or what? Do you actually have to PAY for a rescue? That's absurd! You should be able to go out and get yourselves killed and have your body recovered for free! But seriously, there has to be some sort of rescue here? And who are these people and what is it that they are trained to do?

  3. Good story there. I'm from WI originally too and have done that drive more times than I care to remember. But I've lived in CO for the past 9 years. Favorite place close to home-A-Basin, Loveland. Breck is OK but you gotta remember this is only Dec! It's still pretty crappy there. And windy and icy and cold! That's normal for this time of year there. If you plan on taking a trip to CO again head there in late feb or March. I had the best in bounds powder day of my life closing day at Vail a few years ago. It was pretty epic. The police actually came to the top to get people to come down...most of us took of to find our own way down. But I know Colorado's conditions very well and will be excited to ski there again someday. But I haven't yet skied in Japan. All I know is it'll be a huge difference. I haven't skied ice in years in Colorado but that's only because I don't go down the major runs in the major resorts. There's always good snow somewhere. I'm stoked to get back on the snow soon but damn! Isn't is supposed to have snowed here already??!!!!!

  4. Crazy, I'm not originally from CO either. Actually born in Long Beach, CA, lived most of my life in Wisconsin and have lived in CO for the past 9 years. I just cant' sit still really. But I call Colorado home, even with it's overcrowded and overpriced everything. The only thing that's not overpriced is a season pass! The past few years I had a season pass for Breckenridge, Keystone, A-Basin and 10 days at Vail/Beaver Creek all for $300 US. It'll cost you that much for 4 days at Vail/Beav if you don't eat, drink or do anything other than ski and leave. I used to hate Vail-it's truly evil if you ask me but I can't deny the skiing is amazing. You can get back to Mongolia on the busiest day and not see another soul all day. I'll bet Whistler is similiar. I know it's bigger.

  5. Never been up to BC...yet. I keep meaning to but just having too much fun everywhere else. I can see how you'd get pretty busy up there. We don't get much help with the choppers. Only on evacs really. I'm dying here. I guess I'll just have to resign to workout in the rain until it decides it wants to snow this year. It's ok, I could use all the help I can get at this point.

  6. Still looking, I've got my skins coming from home with my beacon, hopefully, shovel, probes, repair kit and all. Just need skis now. I've been skiing Tuas for years. I've skied on K2s but never particularly liked them. I'm pretty light and the Tuas just have this sweet flex and softness to them. Great for soft and chunky, I'm not sure about the heavy wet stuff as I don't get a chance to ski is much where I'm from. I guess I will here won't I?

  7. Anyone have any good places to pick up Tele gear? I have my boots here but my skis sadly died (well -they deserved rest anyway). I'm in Yamagata and haven't found anyplace that even knows what the hell I'm talking about. I know there's a Montbell near Tokyo and maybe Sapporo but any place within a few hours of here? Please help!!!!!! Thanks much
