What about a decent shuttle bus, surely they could do better than the Go Genki set up. Niseko gets swept every 20min with a free service that does the whole village.
Punter- Seems to have a different meaning down here. Punter just means regular guy. If someone called me a punter I'd take no offence
Yeah...
Didn't know punter was a derogatory term either.

That is an excellent point Kuma! -
Sapporo Kokusai is one place you could visit and I also hear good things about Teine Highland but I have been told it has to fill in a bit for the main action to get good so you may be a wee bit early. Both of those places are weekday only trips. If its a fine day with little wind and you are up for a hike try Rankoshi-Cho Chisenupuri. For a bit of a laugh you could go to Niseko Weiss and try the cat skiing but I have to warn you it is flat as and not much fun if there is a lot of fresh.
Kiroro's promo video actually turned me off visiting the place! All it showed was guys bombing down the run then going off to the side and doing one BIG turn and then losing all their momentum....I don't think I saw one linked turn turn in the whole vid, it really gave me the impression that it was flat.
If by some off chance the snow is really crap and its raining and you just want to do some turns and maybe hit the park Nakayamatoge can be worth a try, its base is at about 900m IIRC and rarely sees rain.
Hope that helps.

Mmmmmm around 1,000,000.
I live too far from the snow!

I agree with Mantis. It CAN be great, we have just had two really bad seasons with last year being the worst on record so we here are all a little down on it.
Here is a pic of the NSW main range behind thredbo!
If the snow was good?????

longboardsk8man,
Is this a compulsory medical check?

Thredbo and Hotham are my picks for OZ resorts. I have never clicked with perisher.....I just don't dig the place.
-
Yep.....what Mantas said.

Data Rock now but its about to change to Goldie Lookin Chain.

I thought that was a typo at first then I saw it again!

Looks pretty much like a bad Aussie season.

and yet, what was the aussie group doing out in such sh*t conditions. let's not burn the japanese alone. the seppo wannabes shouldn't have been out there either, right. takes all kinds of idiots from all countries and nationalities to make this world FUBAR. being a seppo, i know. best bet is to follow the simplest of all BC rules, if it's puking, don't go. too easy. if you spent a vast sum of money for a dream vacation, control the urge to become a another avy stat and live to play another day. -
Maybe because of more freeze thaw cycles.
I know the roads were lethal in Hokkaido this January. I nearly became a statistic myself!
-
I read a report that said the % of tourists to Hokkaido that are Australian were in the minority of nationalities, however Australians topped the chart in visitor nights.

4 Weeks off is hard to take but $2K for a renewal blows!

If you are willing to pay and have a fast net connection you can watch the games through willow.tv.
Good game last night!

Surely you jest!
You have never seen powder before? You are going on what sounds like a mainly Backcountry trip?
Seriously you will probably have alot more fun if you stick to the resorts and ride the edges of the runs ducking in and out of the trees to get a feel for it.
How did you research and plan this trip?
