Thanks guys
I am pretty happy with that shot
No we weren't able to because I twisted my ankle and didn't think I'd be able to get out
Even that little overnight tour wasn't difficult at all. Just taking it easy right now

I need to get the pics off of jer to show you the bottom chute but man what a fun line.
Crazy Long steep powder meadow up top thats hardly ever skied to tight chute down low. great line. Toque we only eyed the bottom chute really.
Cool area
I don't really remember looking up into that stuff too much. I went to the source and have started bugging Jer for pictures
I woke up to the above this morning. Stayed in tiny little hut woth some friends. Not so much skiing as my ankle is still bugging me but great to get out again.
That shot is looking east to the Purcells where Spud has been spending some time. -

I looked at lots of lines last year
Which ones?
How was the powder?
Who skied them?
-
Many of the latest ski/snowboard flicks have footage from China
Doesn't look very good
But there has to be good skiing somewhere. It's a big country with big mountains

Welcome February!!
Hope there are some good pictures that come out of this
Be careful this weekend

I'm thinking next year I might transfer the FRs to the bigstix
I love that ski so much. 4th season now. Well over 100 days on them
Yah I hear he has dreadlocks. We are trying to convince him to stay. May as well put life off while still can
Where are you guys going to tour into?
-
Yah it's getting better
I can walk now and am hopefully going to get on a tour or 5 this weekend. I have to get out
It does suck. Sitting by FT's fire last year was hella lot nicer than sitting in my plastic chair watching movies on my laptop this year

I am not embarrassed to say that on numerous occasions I have pushed through the gates to get a free ride. I've also skied with day old lift tickets in my arm band because they were the same colour
I do not think this is any different than buying lift tickets off of people if they leave early which I have also done many times

Way to live the dirtbag life
I feel this is something that I have missed out on. Might have to make some life choices someday

Are your boots as loose as possible on the skin track?
Risers should be more than high enough for all but the steepest skin track
-
Hey dude
Everybodies financial situation is different
Not everybody can afford to jump on a plane a couple times a year to head off to their favorite ski gelande
-
Oh I see
hush hush
-
Who got caught this time?
-
I guess the party will be starting later on today
Have some beers on me (charge them to FT)
Don't let Tsondaboy near any recording devices

That's a good read
Great you are out there educating people

A-frame the weight of the skis will sit directly on the waste belt which would help lighten the load
I almost always carry mine A-frame style but that is only because I have no other choice. It is a good system on all but the steepest snow. Especially when you are wearing a helmet. The A-frame restricts you from looking up
If you do not use the red webbing there is the the rubber covering the grey webbing on the side where your skis would traditionally sit. Try reversing the straps to that empty buckle
-
A-Frame
Use the top strap obviously
Slide the tails into the red webbing on the waste belt
Or unclip the lower strap and reverse it to the female end that is empty
And the same on the other side if there is an empty male end
Also looks like you might be able to attach them diagonally using that strap on the very bottom
Marmot always has strange attachments and I have read a few times on other boards of people not knowing how to attach skis. Especially for the "Doug Coombs" style attachment on one of their bags
edit: Dammit!!!!!
Quattro beat me to it
I'd be leary of have my axe down that low. It could twist and stab you in the bum

I havn't had that much of a problem
My brain usually switches over after the first turn
Might be that you aren't used to the touring binding. Do you find yourself in the backseat when you are skiing?

THE (no) SNOW REPORT
so it's not exactly been an epic season so far in terms of snow on the resorts. who knows maybe it will dump in february? i hope so. i can't believe how lame it is. where are the storms? the situation is so dire that today huge trucks arrived with snow from otari to transfer the snow onto the kita shogakko's playing ground so the little uns can ride their ski jump and rip the x-country up. 2moro some TV celebrities are arriving to film throwing themselves off the mini ski jump with the students, hence the truck loads of snow specially delivered. this is rubbish, totally rubbish... feels like we got stuck in spring and the winter didn't even begin.
If you have access to terrain like what Kuma and SM skied
and a consistantly lowish avy report
Nothing to complain about there
Of course I am on the other side of the planet stuck in a chair waiting to get out. And hoping that when I do get out there is a stable high pressure system so that I can ski some bigger lines away from the resort -
I'm usually pretty docile when I'm wearing shoes
My activities have my feet in a firm boot
I don't have weak ankles though
Thanks for the advice
I'm going to stay off it for another day and then start walking around like you say

Are you using a different boot in the backcountry?

toque it ends in sick little chute that we wondered about last season. Ill get pics from the photographer one day but I cant really post them here.
also skied a spine that we had eyed a few times as well. Jer is really on form and we are clicking as a safe team at the moment. Im looking forward to attempting the karasawa face with him this season.
I do remember a nice tight chute coming off that ridge but didn't want to ski it in spring snow as it would be a straightline. In powder I bet it was money
