There is some good skiing at the back of that valley. Some nice narrow couloirs or mellow open slopes. I've been up that valley to climb the big peaks a load of times
Only twice with skis though. Good spring skiing. Take a bike with you if you go in late spring and you can cut a load of walking along the fairly flat road
I wouldn't go up there until May though. You have to cross some serious slide paths. Some of the debris was at least 20 metres deep.
Taken from just a little bit lower than your shot in early June last year. Looking the same direction though

It does say Hakuba
EBC can get a little snippy about things like this
great topic -
If you are happy then I am happy
Great
Not about the skiing though
The invite is still open

As well as find all the "will this thread explode" comments as well
That should be easy enough
Probably one of those comments about every 10-15 pages
Only 5%
Come on people. Let's up that to 10 -

but
I've used MSRs and Atlas style
MSRs are way better. A solid shoe for sure. I might buy a pair when I get to that point of buying gear that I'll never use -
Common practice is to fill it in enough that it won't hurt somebody if they don't see it

F4 is my new best friend using PowerPoint in front of the class
I'd never used them before though

I really have to say though that you will be happy with any fat ski you buy
They all float in deep powder
-
I remember walking through loads of tents at the bottom of Happo looking at all the companies with their demos
Not one pair of fat skis though
Pretty much all race shit

Toque they are the best trees ever.
They look real steep which is cool
I did enjoy that final south face that you'd hit if you didn't drop into those north trees though
And skiing through peoples backyards on the way back to Tsugaike is always fun -
Hey I know those trees
Above Cortina or Norikura right
Did you walk the bridge back and then bushwack through peoples back yards like I like to do on the way back to Tsugaike?

It was snowing heavily most of the day so just skinning shots here and there. Nothing worth putting up here
Fubuki I am indeed in BC. In the Kootenays. Where I'll be next spring is anybodies guess. But I hope it is somewhere near mountains in BC
-
My ski day today. Went up to the Kootenay Pass area with the Kootenay Mountaineering Club. A large group of 13 but even though the avy level was Considerable/High we never saw anything slide. Powder and another new area that I want to return to
-
You made it out
And you lived to ski another day
The sun will still rise tomorrow
AK looks like Rocky Balboa but don't worry
Chicks dig a guy with a broken nose

Which to buy??
@Volkl Aura 163 with Marker M900EPS- 73,500yen
@K2 Nancy 169 with Marker 12.0 Free WB- 63,000yen
or Salomon Scarlet but I don't think I want those asymmetrical graphics...
I want Aura with Marker 12.0 Free WB but it'll be more expensive and also heavier... hmm...
Sorry
Don't buy for graphics alone -
Yah my life hasn't changed that much
Only thing that has is that I don't drink nearly as much as I used to
I'll take my camera to school next week and get a picture of my view
I'm good for skiing now
Hoping to get out climbing again next week. Walking is still hurting a bit so climbing might be a bad thing. But my evenings are getting boring without it
What skis will you buy?
-
This is so difficult
I'm only teaching 75minutes a day right now. The rest is just sitting around and getting ready for the next class
My desk is set up so I am looking out through big windows
Its a beautiful clear day and I can see Red Mountain with fresh snow and the hills next to it. Great backcountry terrain. It's so close I can almost touch it
At least it's Friday...
-
Its like umbrellas for you
-
Yes that is a fear. I bet it could go a ways before flipping over on an open slope. Don't think I'd be taking it to very much resort though
Thats right. It was a BD binding
Another thing about less bill on the boot is it will fit into a crampon much better
-
I havn't been getting Couloir mag lately so am not up to date on the reviews
But I did tour with a dude on some new G3s or Scarpas that somehow unclipped for the ascent making for zero resistance. He was loving not having any tip dive. The heal riser was junk though and he had to jerry rig it with an elastic band to keep it up
