  2. what ragdoll said.

it takes more energy to do the electrolysis to seperate the water than you get from the hydrogen. so its not a solution unless you are creating the initial energy from solar/wind/wave/geothermal energy.

it pi$$es me off that the media makes out its free energy... the story is probably funded by the US government to stop people worrying about the impending energy crisis...

i know! people do it though. you can be goth in shorts, it just takes some imagination.

thanks for reminding me about the cult. i gotta get some more old cult tunes. they rocked!

i hear ya re. the cure -> electroclash. i think a lot of dance music is derivative of stuff the cure was doing way back.
  4. ah yes, that old bauhaus classic still sends shivers up my spine... it was used so effectively in the vampire film, "the hunger". nobody ever made a gothier song - it sounded like it was recorded in draculas castle!

i reckon teenagers will always be drawn towards that exploration of their darker side, so goth will always be around in some form.

where i spent my "formative" years in brisbane, queensland, goths were called "swampies". i was a bit of a swampie, but i was only 16 & wasnt into the make-up or anything... living in the southern burbs, i was lucky i was never bashed, cruising around in my tight black jeans, pointy boots & black spikey hair!

there were quite a lot of swampies in brisbane back then (late 80s). favourite club was called "morticias". i still listen to a bit of bauhaus & early cure, the jesus & mary chain, etc... some good tunes from that era.

here's an audio clip of Issac Hayes defending the Scientology episode

    T:\depts\movies\_Fun_Stuff\IsaacHayesDefends_SouthPark.mp3

Fox News reported awhile ago that Isaac Hayes didn't quit South Park and never issued the press release saying he was offended by their Scientology episode, but rather left the show after suffering a stroke. Now Page Six is claiming the press release was actually put out by other Scientologists, saying:

That release was put out by fellow Scientologist Christina "Kumi" Kimball, a fashion executive for designer Craig Taylor. According to foxnews.com, "Hayes loves 'South Park' and needs it for income. He has a new wife and a baby on the way."

o we all knew that the Japanese have a penchant for taking things that the Western world originally start as a joke and running with it until it becomes a world-wide phenomenon. But air-guitar? They’ve managed to take the ‘sport’ to the next level, even going as far as holding annual air-guitar championships. The championships, which had been mainly populated by teenage girls, has now split to also hold the ‘Miss Air Guitar Japan Contest’ as well as the annual ‘Air Guitar World Championship’.

The ‘Miss Air Guitar Japan Contest’ boasted a line-up of 14 lively, panty-flashing, teens, who battled

it out for the number one spot. With the aid of a selection of panty-flashes and well timed smiles, 17 year old Shizuka Mtsubara took out the grand prize. The excited schoolgirl chuffed afterwards, "Since seeing the air guitar championships on TV a couple of years ago, my family and I have become really big fans," the schoolgirl told Shukan Taishu. "What I really like about air guitar playing is that it lets me express myself in a way I like while listening to music I like. I knew people were going to be looking up my dress to see my undies, but I didn't worry about that and just gave it my all."

  7. Treehugger is a huge studio Ghibli fan, thus the cheesy grin. Nozawa was full of really good snowmen - they haev some sort of competition. This sculpture of Totero was one of the best.
