Just added some of sunrises photos to the galleries, under the username 'sjparty'.... don't want to make a habit out of putting non-snow photos on that section but as this was being called an sj party it seemed the best way for them to be up there.
If anyone else has any party photos, send them to us at the usual address and we'll add them to this "sjparty" gallery.
Also - how do we get some of those tshirts!!!?

Yesterday turned out to be a fine day and so we took the camera out and took quite a lot of photos of the northern part of the Shiga Kogen areas - Okushiga, Yakebitaiyama and Ichinose. A great day out there as well...
Check them out here:

Just a few things concerning our Giveaways.
These things seem really obvious, but it seems they are not to some people as these issues have arisen more than a few times:
>> please register to our site using a valid email address. If you use an invalid address, we can't contact you!
>> please only enter a giveaway if you are fairly sure you can make use of the prize if you do win.
>> if you do win and get our "congrats" email, please make sure that you send us your full and complete postal address. (We'll only send the voucher out once, so if the post office can't find you, neither can your ticket!)
All our site-related emails get sent out using our editor@snowjapan.com email address, so it might be a good idea to add that address to any "Friends" list you have in your mail software.
Thanks

We are planning to put together a "Day Trip Ideas" page to the site. While of course we know of a few ourselves, we need help - and the more feedback and input the better.
So...... if you have any good ideas for day trips from both the Tokyo and the Kansai region, please take a moment or two to fill out the form on this page:
http://www.snowjapan.com/e/about/day-trip-ideas.html
We hope to collect a good selection to make an effective page to help readers in the future.
Many thanks for any input.

Yes we have been closely monitoring the increased activity due to the heavy volume of searches done for bettyx pics.
-
We are able to see that info, yes - we can see which threads each user has visited. (If we really want to!)
Don't worry, we don't usually check who is reading what!
-
That will only appear for a short time, but here is what happened....
Someone registered for the forums and we approved them.
They came onto the forums and opened a new thread in Snow Talk with a totally blatant and in your face "ad" for their business.
They then left the forums.
It is worth adding that both before and after posting their ad, they did not even spend a minute reading any other threads on the forums - so it seems that their visit here was purely to post their ad.
So we deleted their account.
They were still logged in when we did that and so that is why they became "1 logged in user".
We should have known better perhaps as their username sounded like it might be a company name, but we approved them anyway as we certainly don't want to be heavy-handed even in the registration stage.
Then they posted their ad.......

As you might expect the people involved always do not think they are correct decisions, but we do and again we seriously do not want to get into doing that much.
Anyway.... back to more fun things.
I'm off out onto the snow.

Frankly, whether he was out to annoy anyone or not, he succeeded in doing so.
This has been said more than a few times before, but we'll say it again... We hardly ever touch any posts on here - you can count the instances on one hand since the season started (with a few fingers left over). It is that few. We hardly think that is heavy-handed. Unfortunately, when something like this happens there is almost always some response - either a totally offensive email to us (which of course really endears us to the poster), or a kickback on the forums and things get all out of hand - and as you might imagine we are not keen on that either. So taking any kind of deleting/editing action is really not something we want to do and actually we want to avoid it as much as we can.
But when we do delete something we do so for what we think is a good reason (and whether people think it a correct move or not, the bottom line is that it is our decision and it's not really up for discussion).

Yes - this week is always the quietest week on the forums.
Though we're here working away on our database.

Hello.
We have not had any problems. Did they upload for you before ok? And where are you trying to upload - member page or photo section?
Perhaps you could email us with the details and we can look into it. Thanks
-
We have also added a link to the application that helps you make your images smaller on the main Photo uploading page:
http://www.snowjapan.com/e/insider/photo_gallery_image_uploader.php
Hope that helps.

SJ PHOTOS
We're really pleased to see quite a lot of people already uploading photos even at this stage in the season. Keep them coming!
We would however like to make a few things about the Photos section a little clearer (and we have modified the uploading page to reflect this).
Apart from the obvious things (like offensive images, porn, etc), the following are not appropriate for the SJ Photos section:
- things that have nothing to do with winter sports and/or Japan;
- images that have nothing to do with any specific resort, but have been linked up to a resort when uploaded. If your image is not of a specific resort, then please do not specify one when you upload it! (We cannot edit just a caption and so the photo would have to be deleted in that case);
- images/captions that look like advertisements
With this new section the aim is to build up (with your help!) a comprehensive visual guide to the Japanese winter sports scene, and so we ask that the section not be used just as a place where you can upload anything onto the web - that's not the idea.
Please note that we will delete anything that we feel is not appropriate, and unfortunately we won't be able to spend time emailing people who have not read the guidelines and posted something we don't think is appropriate.
Thanks for your understanding!
Looking forward to seeing your pics.

We edited your earlier post - it was just, as a few people have pointed out, blatantly crude and went over the line.
Thanks.
