SNOWJAPAN PHOTO OF THE MOMENT
I have used my docomo on Nozawa before now.
These guys might help as well,
Unless someone else uploades them, sorry there won't be any today... no-one in Yuzawa right now
Oyuki kigan is organising an event in Nagano city on 1st December for anyone interested.
There'll be some SJ stickers there as well which will obviously also be a huge incentive to go
Here's the details from Oyuki kigan:
Ondanka Wa Teki Da! (Global Warming is the Enemy!)
Although we all have a stake in maintaining a healthy planet, skiers and snowboarders should especially concerned about Global Warming, and what it means for the sports we love.
While is not debatable that the winters are more erratic and unstable than in the past, the seasons are generally getting shorter, and there is less snow, there is a lot of contraversy surrounding this topic. This affects all of us, from the recreational boarder to the ski-bum to the resort manager.
So this event is a chance for those of you who are too busy hanging out on ski internet sites to get some basic information about Global Warming, what it means for our sports, and what we can do to prevent it.
But it won't be all talk, there will also be some classic and recent ski and snowboard videos shown (Maltese Flamingo, Bikecar, Upping the Ante, etc) as well as a chance to win prizes and test your knowledge of Global Warming in the eco quiz.
Because this stuff is scary, and we should be the first ones concerned about Global Warming, come on out and have a good time while maybe, perhaps, even learn something!
Ondanka Wa Teki Da! will be held at Moriya Hall (the 3rd floor above Tully's Coffee, right by Tower Records) in Nagano City.
Starts at 6:30 until 9:30
Tix are 500 yen in advance and 700 yen at the door
Tix can be bought at the following shops who are sponsoring the event
Skunk Factory (Ueda)
White Forest (Komoro)
Shu/El Dorado (Nagano)
Ishiuchi, at lunchtime
Rice fields with Joetsu Kokusai in the background
Actually that makes it look a bit more than it is generally... that lot has been pushed to the side. I'd say that where it has accummulated naturally it is about 10-20cm in Yuzawa this afternoon. But good to see it of course!
Due to overwhelming public demand, here's how that most famous telephone on Route 17 in Yuzawa is looking this afternoon:
We'll keep you up-to-date this season with news on this important subject.
Here's the thread from previous seasons:
Put up about 20 photos here taken at Kagura today. Here's 2 in similar positions to those posted yesterday:
2 new galleries from photos taken today at Kagura, Naeba and around Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma
Kagura & Naeba:
after the url of the pic.
If you are wanting to upload photos to SJ, which you are very welcome to do, you can upload 5 at a time in the members area:
Any photos you upload there and tag to a resort will be automatically added to that galleries for that resort on SJ (as well as being part of your own gallery of course). You can also create different galleries within that section quite easily.
Here is the photo uploading page:

(BTW, thats what a spam said to us, not what we said to anyone!)
if you check the list of places on sj here:
you'll get a good idea of where they all are
Hi there. We'll look into it. In the meantime if you pm or email us the youtube vid link that you can't post we'll try to find out what the problem is.
Probably a few hundred messages a day, I reckon SirJib
Yes it will depend on the screen. But if you go much over 640 pixels width you will be forcing the right hand side column off the side of a fair few screens. It doesn't actually harm the forums at all, though even if that happens.
Good news to bring you.
It seems that we are going to be able to adjust the form to allow multiple photo uploads in one go. More than likely each photo that is uploaded together will have the same information assigned to it. The exact specs of what we can do and will do haven't been decided on yet but we wanted to let you know that this is now on our list of things to do over the coming months.
Thanks for the feedback and ideas.
Thanks for the comments everyone both in this thread and the ones that have been sent in by email.
Quite a few of the suggestions will probably be happening sometime in the coming months.
One thing that I am pretty sure we will not be changing is the 1 photo at a time uploading system. The main reason for that is because we have a lot of data associated with each photo (Prefecture / Resort name / User Gallery / Category / Caption). It would probably look too complex on the front end as well as also be rather complex to actually get going on the backend, so I don't think that is something that many people require and isn't really on our things to do list. (Although if everyone thinks this is something we really should do, please do let us know!)
Please do send us any further thoughts you may have at any time. Thanks, we really appreciate it.
SJ#1 sent this on to me this evening and thought it might be of interest.
It seems that the official number of Koreans who visited Japan to ski/snowboard between December and March this past winter season was over 15,200 people, which is an increase of over 34% on last season.
Hokkaido - 4,047 ... (previous season 1,567)
Aomori - 1,599 ... (previous season 1,128)
Iwate - 2,539 ... (previous season 1,894)
Akita - 700 ... (previous season 1,083)
Yamagata - 2,809 ... (previous season 2,411)
Nagano - 2,683 ... (previous season 2,830)
Fukushima - 641 ... (previous season 155)
Toyama - 64 ... (previous season 155)
Niigata - 124 ... (previous season 64)
These numbers are coming from JNTO ( Japan National Tourist Organization www.jnto.go.jp )
We have put up a new Photo of the Moment this time by... daver
(We might have missed some great photos over the last few weeks, but will most likely highlight them every so often throughout the spring and summer months).
How can I upload the photos on this forum? Please
