  1. I remember when I first came to Yuzawa and at night there was so many choices weekdays

    Iwappara

    Yuzawa Park

    Yuzawa Nakazato

    Kayama

    Ludens

    Nunoba

    NASPA

The whole town was lit up, it looked great there was a real atmosphere.

I used to go most evenings a different place every day.

Now I think it is only Iwappara that opens weekdays for nighta.

Might have to check that, but details aside nighta really has been cut back in this region.

    :(

  2. One time, a member of my family was involved in a legal case with a poisonous publication.

I certainly do not feel the desire to help promote that said publication, however insignificant it may be.

    Alternative link far more desirable.

Sorry for bringing a personal thing into it, I got permission. ;)

I'm lucky to live within sight of the mightily Mt Granview.

But, I would like to get to Switzerland one winter too, though seems unlikely in the near future!

  3. We have been in the process for a (very) long time now of re-building our website.

It's all based on our 12 years experience of running this site, knowing how we want to run the site backend, knowing how people use the site frontend, knowing what we think are it's weaker/stronger points, receiving lots of valuable feedback and comments... and just a little bit of knowledge of Japan.

We are doing our best to try and improve on every single aspect of SnowJapan.

    Will it be perfect? Nope.

Will everyone love it? Of course not. No doubt some folk will dismiss it after taking a quick 5 minute look.

Whatever we do, some people are not going to like it - heck, some people apparently dislike the fact that we give away hundreds of free ski lift tickets every single season.

Sadly it seems that kind of response is unavoidable and I now accept it as noise that is 'part of the deal'.

Everyone has different opinions with different motivations, and people probably have different ideas as to what would improve the site.

Really, the only way we can move forward with integrity is to do what we think is best, based on above experience etc.

We have a very clear idea of what we want to do and that's what we are trying to achieve.

SJDavid in his original post was just asking for a bit of feedback to see what people thought on that subject - you shouldn't read too deep into it: we're not putting this mammoth 18 month effort into building a website based solely on comments posted on the Forums by a few people who we have never met.

I hope that people really like what is coming up, but if people don't for whatever reason... never mind!

    Remember, it's free.

  4. Thanks Mr Wiggles.

I have just had a chat with the developer and he basically told me we have to live with it.

Essentially if an App is detecting map code, then iOS is sending the Apple Maps and 'replacing' Google Maps.

And nothing can be done about it - even if we wanted to.

I'm keen to get a second opinion on that - not much else to do these days, so it will fill the time - but that's what I've just been told.

  5. Yes it can be and it doesn't help when you are not 100% understanding of everything involved, and having to rely on others for certain things.

I really do dislike anything server-related and always have done. It always seems to frustrate one way or another.

I am very much hoping that once we get this little episode behind us, there won't be any need for any more moving for a long time.

  6. ILoveZao will probably have more insight, but someone I know in Zao told me that they were about 20% down on two seasons ago (which was the last "normal" season), and about the same as last season - which had a number of weeks closed after March 11th of course.

They seem to be positive that next season will see an increase which is good to hear.
