Last night's 'nighta' conditions were fantastic. Alpen ridge line, Hana 3 and Tetsu's trees were all deep and untracked. Powder quality was light and dry.30cm+ of new snow has fallen, and the sun is shining providing perfect visibility this morning. More snow is expected after lunch, but with good powder coverage and slight wind conditions, great turns are there to be had.Yesterday a small avalanche occurred within the resort - the lower side of Miharashi slid for about 40 metres down on to the family course. With fluctuating temperatures and increasing snow loading, caution is required for those heading backcountry.
Did anyone see this? Damn there looks to be some fine fine snow in niseko.

Winter has returned to Niseko, the temperature of -5 C is perfect to produce the prodigious quantities of snow that brings us back to Niseko each year. The wind is whipping through town today and the lifts will be running a little slower than usual. We have had 25cm of new snow overnight and we are anticipating another 25 cm in the next 24 hours. The best skiing and boarding today will be in the trees where the wind blown snow will accumulate. The trees will provide protection from the wind and provide definition in the current flat light conditions. The pick for the day will be Rob Roy and the trees around Hanazono. Despite the milder temperatures of the last couple of days, the snow in the trees and off the peak was better than it should have been.
And this looks dark dark dark - snow baby!!!!

  4. Hey rena, I am a guy from Syd Australia. One of my mates (a girl) just left for Japan by herself and she is going to be there till I get there in Jan. What ever you do, don't let the fact that you are alone stop you from going. It will be utter heaven.

If you are that concerned when you get to Niseko Hirafu go to the snowave chalet and ask for peter murphy - he is the owner of snowave travel (aussie company). Tell him you are an Aussie and you want him to either show you around or put you in contact with some other Aussies. I cant see why he wouldn't do it? Actually, I'd say he'd be more than happy to help out an aussie. Plus, his wife reiko also works in hirafu and maybe she could help you?

    JUST GET OVER THERE
