  1. OK, for the sake of argument, let's say we really use this gadget with a remote for skiing. (today's a slow day for me so I'm up for some trivial banter) I imagine we only need to stay 5 to 10 feet off the ground at any time, just need to climb with the slope till we achieve some altitude on the mountain, then get off and ski down and remote the gadget back to us at the bottom. There is really no need for a chute if we use it this way. My only worry is when we get that big sudden gust of wind that's gonna slam our gadget with us on board into some trees or rocks or the ground or, worst case, some cold pool of water. And with those blades spinning around, if they come off, they might chop off something. The chute doesn't help much except to wrap up my pieces of meat together to be shipped to my mom for burial.

But I like the remote idea. But let's put in on a snowmobile!

  2. I actually quite enjoyed my commute from Narita to Hakuba and back this last trip during Easter. I enjoy the train rides on the Narita Express and Shinkansen because they are comfortable, relaxing and have nice views. Much better than airplane rides and bus rides. From Nagano I drove to Hakuba and back by rented van and that was fun too. However, I have to admit that having my ski gear stored in Hakuba was an important factor in my decision. Otherwise I might have just taken the Chuo Taxi from Narita direct to Hakuba which would have been cheaper. The norikaeru at Tokyo station with full ski gear is quite challenging when you're up against the Tokyo commuters.

Mine has all that and it also has a deodorizing fan you can switch on when things get really nasty and there is also a drying fan function which I never use. I always prefer to do a good "quality control" wipe with tissue to finish off the job. But the one I was using in the Aurinko had a "soft" spray function as well as the normal jet spray function. I liked that. The one I'm using now only has the normal jet spray function and even though I have set the intensity level to its lowest, it is still too strong for my delicate ass. Also the one in Aurinko has a small and oki flush button on the control mounted on the wall. So you don't have to turn around to flush. That is just an extra bonus, but I like having the controls of everything mounted on the wall where it is convenient and the soft spray option.
  4. Thursday, I thought what you posted was available in HK. It looks similar to the one I was using in the Aurinko in Hakuba, where I was staying last week. I definitely don't want to buy that kind of stuff and carry it back with me from Japan. Si I guess I'll just stick with the limited choice of models currently available here. I'll need to install two of these things in my new pad.

  5. Hey, Matt, I have been doing Hakuba during Easter every year for the last three years. The snow cover this time was the best of the three. So it was really great for me this visit. However, with the combination of sun and rain, melt and wash away, the snow cover is melting fast. There will definitely still be a lot of terrain to ski come April 7, but I imagine that the 3 resorts of Sun Alpina will be closed by then, as will Iwatake. But the upper areas of Goryu/47, Happo and Tsugaike will still have quite a bit of skiable area. The snow will also be a bit mushy. So should you go or not? If it were me and Easter was at April 7 this year, I wouldn't hesistate and go, but that's me. I have fun in any muck. Don't expect powder, expect some areas closed and expect some slush. But there will still be plenty of skiable area.

    Good luck!
