  1. There's so much coming down that they closed the lifts at Kiroro (which were open this morning) and the pond is full now.
  2. Telemarkers? Those things are designed to get you moving real fast on the flats or uphill. Have you ever held one in your hand? They are featherweight light. OK, if I'm doing downhill skiing at a resort with good lifts, then of course they make no sense. But they are so great for taking a cross-country hike.
  3. Something must be happening up there. There is definitely more white on that Happo slope of the webcam than a few hours earlier.

  5. Yes, BCS, Ovaltine. Actually, Horlicks is what was recommended by G-G and I wasn't gonna argue with him, look at his PHYSIQUE! Anyway, couldn't find any Horlicks in the pantry and the closest thing was Ovaltine.
  6. Great news! Thanks BCS. That's the same weather page I've been looking at these days but the forecast has changed a lot since this morning. Originally, apart from snow being forecast for tomorrow, it was only forecast for Sunday as well. Now the forecast has changed to include Sat, Sun and Mon! I have to get another cup of Ovaltine and celebrate!
  7. OK, I'll buy into what AK 77 says, so here's my two cents. I've been going to Japan for skiing for quite a few years now so I know a bit though I'm no expert. I've also arranged and booked packages for many of my friends in Hong Kong. So much so that I'm considering doing this professionally and giving up my current job. HKgals, when you say your boss wants "everything the best", what does everything include? Here are some questions you may want to ask him and tell us before we give you suggestions: How good a skier is he? Does he was a ski coach or guide? How good is his Ja

BCS, I take your word on that, since my comment was only based on the limited views I get from those two cams at Happo and Goryu.
  9. Good advice,gg. I just had a nice cup of Ovaltine...feel better already.
  10. Thanks for the reassurance Fatts. I am actually optimistic but all the talk about how late this winter season is coming does worry me a little.
  11. Well, looks like the weather forecasts were spot on, a light dusting of snow this morning in Hakuba is covering up a lot of the green at Happo and another dusting is forecast for this evening.
  12. Still checking out those webcams and still disappointed in what I am seeing in Hakuba but maintaining my hope. Good to see the ants out in good numbers again at Kiroro despite what appears to be quite slushy snow. I have great respect for these ants, instead of sitting on their asses and complaining about the poor quality snow like us, they are out there making the best of the meagre conditions we have so far. Good enthusiasm! Great attitude! Thursday, you're right my building is NOT safe. In fact this is the 3rd time this office has been broken into since I have been here! I am lucky tha
  13. At least a little snow is forecast for 6am tomorrow in Hakuba and then again on Sunday and Monday.
  14. Looks like the lifts are still up and running in Kiroro, but not many ants there today. Checked the weather forecast and looks like snow is forecast for Hakuba this coming Sunday with colder temps! Keeping my fingers crossed. Tokorode. My office was burgled last night. Got back this morning and saw the desk of my colleague broken into and ransacked. My desk was not locked and even though I had a few thousand dollars cash in envelopes on the desk, it was not touched. So far haven't discovered any losses myself but my colleague lost some lose change of about 30 bucks. Just finished giving
  15. Wait a minute, I see the lifts moving again at Kiroro and a small number of ants this afternoon. Maybe that resort is indeed open already.
  16. Thanks for that link, BCS, but the webcams are the same as the ones on this site. Don't worry, YellowSnow, nothing was directed at you personally. Just some harmless joke about yellow snow in general.
  17. Nice snow falling in Kiroro again it seems but all the ants have disappeared. I guess the resort isn't really open yet and yesterday was just a pre-opening one-day trial. It looked good though, seeing those lifts running and a good turnout of ants. Sadly the Hakuba cams only show the devastation left by the recent rain. I know it's still early but after seeing those two early dumps put a nice white blanket on the slopes, it's disappointing to see it wasted.
  18. Terrible, the snow this morning obviously turning to rain at Hakuba and it has washed away much of the base that has been building up.
  19. Snow Making Markie doesn't call himself Snow Making Markie. He was called that by Fattwins. Anyway, I was stripped of that title some time back for my poor performance.

  21. Wow, first time this season, the ants are out at the Kiroro base station!

  24. At least it looks like it is snowing now in Kiroro, but the pond that had been filling up with snow has now really become back a pond...with water.
