I have probably been via Tashiro more actually, coming up from Gunma. Often find it less busy as well definitely a plus on weekends.

Good recommendation muika, I like Tasuke too.
They have a shop near Numata IC as well, but the one on the way to Sarugakyo/Naeba is better.
Lots of nice snacks as well.
Takuminosato craft village a bit further on it good too, I remember seeing your pics from there.

The thing that always gets me worked up is when you're on a straight road. Not busy. Can see for miles. Nothing behind you. Going along the main road then some dude turns into your road just in front of you causing you to slam on the brakes.
Yes I hate that too. And it happens a fair bit.
