It's only just starting to get warm way up here in Iwate! There was one really humid yucky day early this week (pre-typhoon), but it has been much cooler than any Japanese summer I can remember, so far.

That sounds like an awful lot for shaken on a kcar! I got 2 years shaken on my Mira for 90,000 (including fixing the brakes!).
My car is now for sale by the way, if anyone's interested. It still has 13 months of shaken left too! Contact me if you're interested (I live in Iwate)

I didn't get a season pass last year as I wanted to try out lots of resorts, but as I kind of fell in love with Hakkoda, I bought a February month pass and travelled about 400km each way every weekend that month!!!

I live in a fairly small city (60,000) and I usually only eat out on the weekends or at most, once during the week. I am on a pretty tight budget at the moment though.

I think it's usually just joking - I'm a recent convert to boarding and some of my best friends are skiiers. We usually go together in a big mixed up happy group. As long as there's enough snow for all, everyone's happy!

I think a small amount of facial hair (like goatees) can be very very sexy, depending on the face it's adorning.
Big huge hairy beards that cover half the face and make it difficult to figure out who it is....not sexy.

yeah, it's another of those sentimental things.
It's not big and not too exciting in terms of clubs, but I did a homestay there years ago that made me love Japan and want to come back.
It was the people.

not much of a fan of Tokyo - It's fun to visit and a good place to go for a boogie, but it has too many people, too much stress, and is too dirty to live there - IMO.

It's not really really bad.
It's got lots of action and special effects and stuff, I was just expecting a bit more in the way of plot. It's one of those movies that I would rent (or watch if I copied it off TV), but I didn't think it was worth the 1700yen to see it in the theater. But that's just my opinion.

The Star Wars movie with the mutant rabbit thing was very very very disappointing. Haven't seen the new one yet.
The Scorpion King was also pretty bad - pro wrestlers shouldn't try to be comedians - didn't the Rock learn anything from Hulk Hogan's pitiful attempts? The only good thing about that movie was that someone ran up to me and told me I look like the girl in the movie (I definitely don't, but it was a nice compliment!).
Has anyone seen "Shaolin Soccer"? Thought that might be bad/funny, but assume it won't have English subtitles...oh well.

I listen to a wierd mix of dancehall reggae, japareggae (listen to Pushim!), old school hip hop, soca & calypso, punk, rock steady, ska, trance and anything that appeals to me at the moment. There are times for jazz, classical, rock, house and everything else (except for country - eeewww) 80's music is great too! I don't know, what can I say, my taste is all over the place.
When I'm travelling I like to listen to Jimmy Cliff, the Specials, Sublime, Buju Banton, the Beatnuts etc. Chill but energetic.
When I'm partying, it's a whole other story - drum'n'base, trance & house.
I'm also starting to enjoy Bad Religion...

I'm going to be in Hokkaido for the first two or three weeks of August and recently heard about an Ainu Festival sometime around Obon. I read an article about the one last year on this website, but haven't been able to find out anything about this year's festival.
Has anyone been there? Is it worth going? If I can figure out where/when it is, I'd love to be able to go as long as I can then make it down to Tokyo in time for my flight on August 20th!
Any help would be great
