actually...
skiers do have leashes...we call 'em powder straps...and are usually used on those deep powder days we all dream about...I imagine it saves you a lot of time if you eat it and release...
certainly not mandatory for us though...

is that really your idea of relaxing??
i'm curious, what is relaxing about it??
certainly not the neon lights, or the bings, bells, whistles, and general noise to boot...
is it the comfort of stale tobacco smoke??
i'm at a loss...please enlighten me..

the problem is they have too many lifts that are poorly placed, and no-real vertical...so its actually like having too few lifts, because only a select few are worth riding...
i also feel like they don't have enough high-speed quads here...and those single-chair lifts are soooooooo boring...

yo Matt...
I'm a biker, although not very technically competent...
I don't have much riding selection out here in the plains of chiba...but I've gone to this place near tukuba-san a few times (Mt. Asio)...incredibly steep switch backs, way beyond my ability...but it gets the blood pumpin!
where do you ride??

hmmmm...this is a difficult question indeed...are you prepared to venture deep into the psyche of men??
I usually like to sport a goatee or beard come winter time...here are some common reasons i use to justify (in no particular order)
1) laziness
2) added warmth
3) some chicks (minus akibun) find it sexy
4) you get to look like a real snow-man if you go out during a blizzard...
5) icicles
well, the list goes on...I am sure my brothers in here will give some more...

Hey skiers - tried boarding at all?
in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Posted
believe it or not, i've actually tried the board once...
had a good time, and a soar ass...
main reason why i don't really want to do it again is
1) if its a powder day, i'm not going to waste my time trying to learn a new sport
2) if its a blue-bird day, i'd rather explore the entire mtn. than waste my time trying to learn a new sport
3) if i am spending quite a few bucks on a "ski vacation", i'd rather ski than waste my time trying to learn a new sport...
4) i still have room to improve my skiing, but am good enough to enjoy all types of terrain, so i want to keep improving...
those are my reasons...if i am lucky enough to score a season pass at a mtn nearby in the future, i will consider the board for those crappy days...
but until that happens, give me my skiis...
