  2. not true! well, probably is in some occasions...

however, I find talking about food is one of the best way to break the ice when meeting nihonjin...they love talking about food and always seem very interested/curious about cuisine from other corners of the world...

if you want to just chat at some local dive, this is a good fun way to do it...

  6. I refuse to call my kitchen a kitchen...i would be suprised if I could fit 1 tatmi in that space...it is a counter with a skink and a one of those fish broiler things...it is right next to the genkan...literally about 6" of space between genkan and the sink...

another good excuse not to cook...

  7. I prefer my high-speed quads! but that is the NorthEast skier in me...if you got less than 2000' of vert and no pow, I want to do as many laps as possible...and the only way is with a long, properly placed high speed detachable...

the lifts in japan are pathetic...slow, and poor vert...not to mention terrible line managment, which is equivalent to running the lift even slower than they do (empty chairs...)...

  8. just a few points...

    1) I do not think that capturing/killing sadam was ever a priority in the war...surely, when the war was going on, there were attempted pinpoint attacks to take out sadam, but the motivation behind that was it would cause the regime to topple quicker...destroying the control infrastructure is a fast way of getting rid of the entire regime...now that the war is over, it is not a priority to get sadam...his sphere of influence in iraq is finished...this is not the same situation as osama...

    2) As for oil issues...I think the UN, and specifically France and Russia, had more to loose economically (all related to oil) from the war...the Oil for Food program was a huge cash cow for the UN...they collected a 2% commision on all transactions in the program...we are talking about billions of dollars here...the program is the only one of its kind that is headed directly by kofi annan...with NO accountability...you wanna see the books?? you can't, because they are classified...France does the auditing...the main contracts for the oil shipments were with Russia and Syria (sadam got to choose)...seems to me oil and mula were also motives for opposing the war...so who is on higher ground (politically speaking...)??

  9. on my recent visit back home McD's was offering a new item..."Premium Salads"

the picture shows their chicken cutlet sliced into strips siting on top of some crispy fresh lettuce with those tiny beads of water on it, and some other veggies scattered around...looked yummy...

but I didn't have it...I stuck to other fine foods like burritos, tacos, pizza, sub sandwhiches, mmmmm...I missed that stuff!
