At this point, pretty much all of those SerreChe.... then we'll see what we can cook.
Thanks!

Anyway thanks for all the comments on here and those who sent us emails in response to this thread. Further comments most welcome if you have them! Thank you.

In preparation for a further change that may be coming to the site in time for the coming season, we would be interested to speak with people who have extensive experience in avalanche and backcountry issues in Japan (and especially qualified in the area of avalanche).
If you feel that includes you and are interested in perhaps becoming involved here, please do contact us - email us at our editor@snowjapan.com address.
Thank you and hope to hear from you.

Taken a quick look into this and had a bit of a talk about it. While it might be technically possible to modify things to add this functionality, it would need development time and we have just got too many other things in development at the moment that have much more priority.
We'll keep it in mind for the future though.
(Personally, I don't really think it would be worth the effort it would take to implement it and think the chatbox serves its purpose fairly well at the moment).

Good, and thanks.
Some more (bigger) changes coming to the Forums probably next week - or the week after.
Then the big big updates will be later on. So much to do before that though, a bit daunting!
-
Thanks.
Actually the updates that we will be making for the photo section have already been completed (not to be meddled with any more before putting online!). At the moment we are working on various other things and we will be putting all the updates online together. Hoping that people will like them all.

Quote:or the ability to transfer pics between galleries
Actually you can do that now via the Edit Photo functionality. -
Hi SerreChe
Just noticed your new pics, thanks!
Multiple (5 at a time) photo upload is coming, along with some other photo section updates & changes, when we give the site it's major update for the season (sometime in October).
-
After a bit of a summer hols for the Chat Box, it will be back online and back to normal from this Saturday.
-
Thanks.
Not sure how it would work in practice Journey Man as the 2 formats are not "compatible", so to speak. The easiest way actually be to Trip Reports be posted here, and then we (SJ) manually create journals for the relevant member in the Journals section. Or something like that. Got to think this all through.
Quote:Maybe SJ*'s could suggest/remind peeps of the SJ sections occasionally. One of the things that we will be doing when we update the site is do this!
-
PS Got your (journal) mail tsondaboy - if ok with you hope you don't mind if we deal with that early next week.... at the moment a few people are on holiday and I'm not able to do what is required to look into that.
-
That is a very good idea, thank you!!
And make it easier to post the TR's with links etc....
-
Good point as we don't particularly want people to not post further Reviews and Journals... but the fact is that people do post simple TRs on the Forums (and not in Journals etc). We were just thinking of how to bring those attention more and perhaps encourage more TRs at the same time.
Lots to think about (as always seem to be the case!)
-
Well that has confused me!
-
tsondaboy, I suppose the idea at this stage is for the snow related TRs to be here (this new forum under SNOW) and other ones can go in the JAPAN TRAVEL or OVERSEAS TRAVEL sections - of course we can adjust and change depending on what is best and what people want.
-
Thanks for all the comments, any more very welcome.
-
I don't know about you but I'm hoping that the hottest part of summer is now behind us. We have been working on a lot of fairly major updates to the main site that we hope to launch in October, but it's now time for us to start making a number of changes and adjustments to the Forums as we begin to prepare for the coming season.
One thing we are thinking over is the idea of having a section of the Forums set aside just for TRIP REPORTS (as we have temporarily set it up here).
Of course, it's Forum members that will be using this during the coming season & so we would very much welcome any feedback at all that you might have now - so please do let us know what you think.
Good idea or not?
TRs should be kept within the main Snow Talk section?
Any other comments?
We'll see what kind of response we get from everyone in the next few weeks before making a final decision on whether to keep this or not.
Look out for some other Forums changes/improvements in early September.
Thank you.

Right. But we did not close it.
-
Just for the record, SJ did not close the other threads.
-
Look, I really do appreciate the help while there was no-one on duty, but can we now leave this alone please? We have got enough to cope with - with this idiot and the forums suddenly becoming "bump" all over the place.... thanks.
-
Not sure yet, I am looking into it now. We have the IP address and other info though which has been slapped on the ban list. We'll compare it with the previous times this person has been on.
Thanks.
(PS lots of intelligent posts please to cover up all the bumps!! ;)9
