Just deleted the last two posts (which obviously are no longer visible!)
Sorry folks, but can we please refrain from bad-mouthing & likely controversial discussions about ex-members or people who can no longer post or people who just no longer post on these forums.
There's a number of reasons for this, including:
a) in the case of them no longer being able to post, they are unable to answer to any comments aimed at them;
we don't want to waste time answering questions and explaining about previous bust-ups on here and giving it the spotlight again;
c) ほか;
The above comments are not aimed at anyone in particular, etc etc.
Cheers!

Perhaps we should not discuss people who are no longer on the Forums (for a number of reasons).
Thank you.

Sorry Tubby Beaver, but right at this moment we're not going to get into that discussion. We will be bringing it up nearer the season start. For now, please just read the Forum guidelines. Thanks.
Back to the topic?

On the subject of links.... we do not want people to think of these forums to be used as some kind of "links directory". Sometimes they are fine, but simply posting links bring up a fair number of issues for us - especially when they are winter sports & japan related ones.
More and more as winter approaches we are going to be facing this issue and while we have a basic policy we're also going to be applying a case-by-case policy when it's "borderline".
We were discussing this today actually, and I'm sure we'll be talking about it again in the coming months.
Anyway, sorry me jane!

We're not particularly worried about it 69 (though just to help us out with keeping within our guidelines some kind of comment as well as the link would be good).
-
It depends on how you define regularly, but it will be much more than 50. Most forums will have that core group of members who are present a lot of the time. In the last 30 days, over 700 accounts have been active (not all of them posting).
-
And I will take the blame.
Anyway, I'm tired. Have a good weekend all. You might want to get back on topic as well1

Actually I have just asked about that Tubby Beaver.
It seems that since SJ started in 1999 there have been a few times when the forums have been "pruned". That's either out of choice or due to upgrades/changing application issues (the latest time being when we moved over to this domain name). So basically a fair few posts from a quite a few years ago will have disappeared, though the membership data for the people making those posts will remain. Or something like that. I haven't been involved in any of that so I'm not in on the details.
-
Do care actually, it's always nice to hear encouraging comments. Cheers.
To address your question - I really don't know that either 2pints, though we do have membership data etc somewhere I'm sure.. but not to share with everyone here though!
-
Hi Tubby Beaver - I really don't know. Is that interesting? Hey it wasn't us that started the thread! But while we're here, just as another piece of info, that number is just for the Forums and does not include the 15,000+ members we have signed up for the site in general.

Do you like the new spoiler feature?

OK good, very pleased to hear that spook.
Thanks for the comments.

soubs, you seem to be using netscape 8.1.3 - this issue might disappear if you use the latest version (9). You may not want to do that of course...
-
spook - not sure why that would be happening... we've tested it on more than 15 machines with IE6 and IE7 without getting that error.
Is it happening on every page you try this on? Can you usually get to the main Reply page when you click on the Reply button at the bottom of each post? Is it the only error you get?
Can you maybe turn off your browser, delete all cache and try again?
The more info you give us, the more we can possibly help.
-
Of course, we would like it to be working in Netscape as well but unfortunately there's nothing we can do right now about that particular issue. Sorry about that.
It does work in IE, Firefox & Opera.

Over the next few hours we will be checking everything to make sure there are no bugs, so please bear with us while we do that. If you find any major problems please let us know via email or PM.
Thanks!

Yes, right, here we go. It's all rather predictable.
The only thing we control, or wish to control, is dealing with problems and issues that arise on these Forums and also trying to prevent them from happening.
If you do not like the way we run things here and cannot accept any of the terrible terrible policies that we have, you can simply refrain from posting on these Forums.... we're just fine with that.
