Really very sorry for the delay in responding to this.... we've all been a bit too busy for our own good lately and things are getting missed.

After the rather frantic & frustrating events of the last week or so (too much work & related..), we are all taking a "no computer" holiday this weekend to try and recharge a bit.... so we've decided to give the Chat Box a bit of a holiday as well. Sorry about that, but it will be back on Tuesday.

It's been a really crazy week here - we've had a few setbacks with development things on this end (and still waiting for the green light on a few other things we are doing) and while things are pretty much back on track now it has probably delayed everything by about a week or so. So sorry we aren't able to put much thought into this, heads are exploding with other things.
Technical people, do those design specs we posted before seem ok for us to go ahead with the comp?

We'd like to go ahead and do something about this... but need to get the specs right for the submissions. What do you think? For the last one it was this:
Quote:The specs of the FINAL DESIGN will need to be as follows:--- 300dpi- 600dpi;
--- size: 4in x 4in OR 3in x 10in;
--- Clear background;
--- CMYK;
--- 4 colors max.;
--- no photos.
Acceptable Software Applications (all versions of):
--- Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Illustrator; Macromedia Freehand
Acceptable File Formats:
--- TIFF, EPS, JPEG, PSD (300 - 600 dpi)
--- Both Mac and PC formats are acceptable.
For those more in the know, does that seems reasonable, or any further comments?

We are using a new font on the site when we give the site all our updates next month... I wouldn't call it a logo as such, just a different look to the name. We're not asking for a "new logo" here with this competition - just a design that will look good on "sj stuff". And we might use it in places on the site as well (like we currently do with the mountains at the top of this page). Am I making sense? I'm tired.

Anyone know of any good places to get things made? Before we go much further we really need to think through costs and everything - as we don't have much (er, any) that we can throw at this up-front....

No skulls, pandas or death images I think.... another good condition is, SJ has the final vote on the winner.

Last time the "prize" (as such) was the design being used on the sticker, and also giving SJ permission to use it how it in any way. That sound ok?
Ideas, folks.... ideas will really help us get this going much much quicker than if we have to sit down and think it through!

Thanks for posting this CB. We're really interested and like the idea of doing something, though we're going to be cramming about 3 months of work into the next 6 weeks or so, such is the amount of work to be done for our site update.... so we do need a bit of help!

Just heard it now that the first snow has fallen on Mt Fuji for the season.
Seems it is 5 days later than a "normal" year and 1 day earlier than last season.
