SnowJapan Nozawa Photo Contest 06/07 - The Results
Here are the winners* of the SJ Nozawa Photo Contest 06/07.
The winners were chosen by the friendly people at the Nozawa snow resort from valid photos uploaded to SnowJapan last season.
Just to be clear, the names of the photo files and SJ members were coded on the photos submitted to Nozawa - making them totally anonymous. There was no favouritism and no bias - just the photos for Nozawa to choose the winners.
1st Prize - 10 Nozawa lift pass vouchers (this season)
Winner: ukboarder

What exactly is "too easy"?
-
We are a bit caught up at the moment with a few things but if you do, please let us know (PM) and we will get on the case promptly in changing the settings of the SJ Webcam pages. Thanks.

Technical issue.
Please forgive us.

The phonebox, this morning

Moved again, the response today was 90% in favour of having it here in this position.
Further comments welcome.....

The "My Calendar" is only available to members who are logged in, and displays under the chatbox.
The links to "Calendar" and "Active Topics" are near the top of the page, just under the black bar.

Please take part!
Just a few questions about whether you use certain functionality of the Forums or not.
Thank you!
-
That is easily fixed - and has been.
How's that?
Other comments from other people?
( If you don't comment and let us know, don't complain later one! )
-
How about this then, positioned as a "Sub-forum" within Snow Talk.
Comments most welcome, we will try to respond to what people think is best!
-
Thank you for all these comments.
Quote:I mean you could have pages and pages of just "snow" "Japan" on here and then what?Domokun may know more than me on this as I am not that technical myself, but I do not think that would be particularly beneficial (and some people might take it too literally!) Those words are mentioned on here a lot as it is. Search engines have been known to actually penalise people going over the top with keywords, though I'm not sure how that would apply to a forum.
Apart from what Domokun mentions in his post, one thing that does potentially really help is linking in to SnowJapan and the Forums from other sites. Basically the more of those the better.
(This is also one reason why people want to post links on SnowJapan and these forums to their websites. Having a link on here - and even more so on the main site - to an outside site potentially has a lot of value not only in terms of people clicking to go to that site but also in terms of how google views and ranks that website).
Anyway thank you again for the comments.

No photo, but this morning there was no sign of snow anywhere around the telephone.
Hopefully by Monday that will be very different.

I'm afraid we're going to have to disappoint yet again.
At the moment the settings are that a thread becomes "hot" if either of these conditions is satisfied:
1000 page views.
We can easily change those numbers if something is more appropriate.
Other ideas are unfortunately not going to come anywhere near the top of our "things to do" list
-
I was just kidding, honest!
(But please do be kind to us, just to make us smile)
-
We get flagged when someone has posted a certain amount and change it manually. If for some reason we don't change it over, if people ask us we will invariably turn them on.
Yes CB it was to avoid spammers and advertisers who just wanted easy access to all the members of these Forums.
We're protecting everyone you see.
We try to not let those kind of people spoil things for everyone but unfortunately it is the only way to get around that particular problem.

If you know of any good Trip Reports from previous seasons, please do let us know and we will move them over to the new forum section.
Thanks

We have started new section of the Forums called "Trip Report Archive".
Basically, any Trip Reports that are posted in the main "Snow Talk" forum area will be moved over into this new "Trip Report Archives" area of the Forums. (We'll do that, no need to worry about moving them yourselves).
So, please post your Trip Reports initially in the Snow Talk section of the Forums, here:
http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/1/page/1
Thanks

OK a bit of a change. Due to public demand we have decided to make this section of the Forums as a "Trip Report Archive".
After a few weeks, Trip Reports posted in the main Snow Talk forum area will be moved over into this area of the Forums.

It is something we can set and is dependent on the number of replies and/or the number of views for a topic.
Lets playing game. What do you think the conditions are at the moment?
-
Why wouldn't it?
Done.

Me and SJ1 plan to maybe be up there this weekend, going in SJ1's car, but we were planning to be there quite a bit before 9:30
