How about everyone else? Please let us know.
[This is all going to depend on peoples screen settings and as above browser width, but when there are up to 50 registered members online for most display settings there should be little or no white space]
-
Ahhh, I obviously totally misunderstood what you were saying in the chat box. Sorry!
I thought you were implying that there weren't many people online and therefore lots of space top right and therefore the "top posters" was somehow discouraging people to post. Or something like that. (So I was confused about all that because things are actually really busy this morning)
OK I see now. Well that is cramped and I doubt many people have it like that with the browser only using up maybe 60% of the screen (?). Do you always use the browser like that ie. not taking up the whole screen? If you click on the maximise thingy, it will probably look much much better because the extra space will ALL be given to the Who's Online data and will more than likely eliminate all 'white space' on all but the smallest screen display settings.
(The reason we made the top left parts into images is to give it a uniform size for everyone rather than before where it was dependent on font size etc).
I'd be interested to know if many people do that, obviously it is something we had not taken into consideration.

I usually let mine have a sleep overnight after all the stuff I put it through every day!
-
We are working on it.

That's right, taking up that space.
We're going to look into the possibility of making it an option to display. But that will have to be 'later'!
In the meantime,

It doesn't 'deserve' to be right near the top, especially with so few people apparently using it.
Anyhow, it is shown on every single page of the site, so it's hardly hidden if people want to use it.

The top link to the Calendar will always be there. We are not considering getting rid of that.
The functionality has not changed, so nothing has been disabled Domokun.
The question on the poll was the the My Calendar box on the right hand side - it takes up space and right now it is not switch on/off-able by individual members and so we have to either have it set on or off.
Take a look at the poll - apart from little response it is almost overwhelmingly 'don't care'.
By the way it does not appear if you are not logged in.

Hows about that? >>>

I just noticed, even though you can still put Private events on the calendar, it doesn't list them.... perhaps we should have that on there, perhaps at the bottom of the list....

Two 'smartass' comments in the last 5 minutes.
They have been deleted.
See my post above. Enough. Change the subject.
Post more beyond this point and you won't be able to post anything on here for at least a month. I promise.

To everyone:
Humour or not, this or that or not, please get this back on topic (or at least off this line of talk), back on warmer and cuddlier ground and take any personal nastiness elsewhere.
Thanks.

Thank you! Missed that, and now added to the main announcement.

added:
'My Stuff' on the left
You now have the choice of having the My Stuff menu appear on the left hand side instead of just a drop down. (Try it! Go to Preferences and look for 'Do you wish to have the 'My Stuff' menu as a left navigation menu?')
Posts in the last 24 hours
We have added some new data to the Forums Stats info on the right hand side of the page - it shows the number of new posts made to the Forums in the last 24 hours. This number does not include posts made in the Chat Box.

You are!
At least for now....

Please do take part.
Thank you!

This morning we have moved over a number of Trip Reports from the main Snow Talk forum area into this section. There are going to be some we missed, and so if you find any more, please do PM or mail us to let us know and we'll see to it.
Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the Forums.
Those areas you mention certainly do get the snow.
(Take a look at the daily reporting archives for those regions: http://www.snowjapan.com/e/daily/nowcalendar.php)
This kind of question has been asked and covered many times on these forums and I suggest you take a good look round the forums as well as the site to get a general overview of things.
As well as just browsing through the posts on the Forums you can use the search here:

We have made some adjustments to the Who's Online page
http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/online.html
Still some more things to look into and sort out but generally things are getting settled in now I think.
Thanks.

Hi Ewok2, as mentioned in the new Forums update thread we are still doing a lot of fine tuning to the new forums behind the scenes. This means that from time to time we will be having to turn that off as we reset a lot of settings etc.
http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/271312/FORUM_UPDATES_20th_May_2008_Wh.html
We are nearly settled now, hopefully by the end of the week it will be normal service resumed.
Thanks
