For all the talk of early and late season at Marunuma Kogen, I'd recommend peak season too. The snow quality when I went last year (I think it was a weekday in late January) was excellent and it wasn't busy at all. We went by car.
There are lots of buses going to and from the main station in Yuzawa. Possibly too many even - it can get confusing. But you'll have no problem getting between those two. If all else fails, a taxi won't be (too) expensive as it's only 5 minutes or so.
I know this isn't a question as such but hope it can go public. :) I just want to thank you guys at SnowJapan for running an amazing website. I know pretty much all my friends use it and it's not just me that is addicted through the winter, and we do truly appreciate your reporting and all the effort clearly goes into it all. Job really well done. But please do keep it up! (Oh, and nice new idea with this Q&A).
