  1. Plenty of them around GN.

Fortunately, most of them spend very inconsequential lives and wake up to that fact at some point in their bottom-dwelling existences, realising that they've f$cked it (you're only here once) when it's too late to grow a pair.

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, even though checkered by failure than to rank with those poor, timid spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in a grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." Theodore Roosevelt.

  2. So it seems it's fine to go backcountry and earn your turns but if you actually use the term 'earn your turns' then you're a wanker? Is that it? Just so we know so that we don't offend anyone's ancestors and get them all censed! :p

Ha ha ha . Spot on GN !!

Apparently it's not politically correct in this day and age to be dedicated to anything that involves effort because to so do (or more correctly to talk about so doing) will be perceived by lesser mortals as discrimination against their mental/physical inability to do the same.

The lunatics ARE running the asylum!!!

  3. Think you and a few other people are missing the point......no one is slating people who get out n hike and nail those perfect turns, especially when they share in a TR with photos......what I think Ski is saying is the phrase "earn your turns" is trumpeted out by people as a slap down to those who only use lifts to access their rides. As if because you've hiked instead of taking a lift means that it's any better or worse......fun is relative and what you make it. Who are we to say anyone who enjoys ripping the slope is any less of an enthusiast for snow? That's what they love to do....and THATS the point in all sport. Having a wee hike out to get those untouched.....awesome....I'd like to do more too....but I know people who don't like zipping the trees, they still love ripping the slopes, they aren't any better or worse than me....just a different flavour.

Wow...like wow....Daisy chains and love man

  4. Brisbane Roar had a big Hun connection for a few years, is it still the same?

Apart from a few transferred players (and many fans common to both teams) there is/was no connection between Rangers and the Roar.

You are probably thinking of the Sydney Team "Northern Spirit" which was around before the A League started up. They were a wholly owned subsidiary of Rangers.

Watching a team of pathetic poofters playing in orange/tangerine last night, one could perhaps imagine a connection to another Scottish club ?? ;)

  5. Well,

Don't know about you Snowjunky but I have never seen the Roar play a worse game of poofterball than tonight's debacle in the 10 year history of the A League.

Words like "pathetic" and "useless" don't even come close to describing the range and magnitude of their shortcomings.

We'd need cloud storage to go into all the details so I won't.

Played 3, Lost 3 - your job should be on the line Mr. Mulvey !!! :veryangry:

  6. I assume you're true blue through many generations ;)

Surname, family and bloodline is pretty well documented in Scottish military history. I'll leave the wang under my kilt and not start quoting details on a ski forum, but let's just say I got married in full Highland regalia in a quite dark tartan and the family's military service has been traced back to having served with William of Orange.

    True blue enough for you??

  7. No, your comparison is nonsense......the previous Scotland you talk about didn't go into administration, unable to pay its debts and ultimately go out of existence before reinventing itself as a devolved government.

Aha, check your history sonny - that's exactly what DID happen to Scotland prior to the 1707 Union of the Parliaments.

Ooh.....United werent hard men....good! Another example of insecure smallcocks running around beating up kids and old men to make themselves feel important

This comment is almost keyboard warrior status which speaks for itself!

  8. No......there's a team called "The Rangers" in the championship, who started life about 3 years ago in what was then the Scottish 3rd Div. They took the league place of another Glasgow club thst is now no more, that had a similar but different name of Glasgow Rangers. :p

And FWIW Rangers were never one of the top firms, it was always Aberdeen and Hibs who were the hooligan mobs to watch out for. The zombie element of Ibrox were simply a rabid, unwashed mob :)

Ha ha ha. By this same argument, the Scotland with it's own devolved powers is a new entity who's history goes back to the Blair era. This new entity took the place of a UK region called Scotland which was borne from the Union of the Parliaments in 1707, prior to which....blah, blah, blah.

All bullshit! Scotland is Scotland! Rangers are Rangers!

BTW I can assure you Aberdeen and the Hibees are cream puffs !!!

P.S. Back in my day the average United fan had a very neatly tied scarf and a Paul Weller haircut - used to be quite disconcerting waiting for them to break out a rendition of "This is a modern world"

  9. Rangers sadly are no more Big Al, maybe you missed it. But certainly their fans were animals

What you bin smokin' Tubbs. We're alive and kicking it in the Championship ("it" being opposition supporters' heads when social order so requires) and heading for a big return to the Accies-dominated Premier League next season.

BTW - all fans have an animal element - ours are just the best at it !!

  10. That may well bee ;) but in the context of this thread, it's moot. People who use such a phrase on here tend to be the ones who are striding naked up the mountain, naked through a blizzard while thumbing their gnarly noses at the unworthy plebs sitting comfortably in their hooded quad lifts taking the bourgeoisie route to the top

And clearly they have every right to so do, as you have described the Gods of the Mountains :worship:

  11. (Edit - this is a reply to Tubby's post - Lord, Earl, Sir Chriselle of the Chriselle's Senior lll'd got in too quick for me)

Well you're assuming the "earner" is the one doing the saying which is probably a fair assumption amongst the narcissistic youth of today.

I (being of sufficient vintage to understand that the port only gets passed to the left) assume that in conversation it is the respector of the badge earned by the earner who is more likely to use the phrase as a compliment.

Or in Scottish terms Tubby "The loudest bummer's no' the best bee" :D

  12.

Ya...earn your "anything"... is kind of a macho bull$hit I'm better than you thing, right...

Not sure if that's sarcasm Chriselle, but I definitely don't read it as an I'm better than you thing. In fact those feelings are IMHO usually brought about by insecurities in the person claiming to be on the receiving end of them.

When used properly the "earned your"....anything should simply be a badge of respect for the effort expended to get the "earner" to where he/she is !!

........ :stir: and cue philosophical debate :stir:
