Would love to go here, heard so much about it. Good stuff!

Could I ask what the turnaround for these would be? I.e. What would be the earliest date we could ask for?
-
Yep! Looking encouraging, let's hope it sticks around a little! Oh, and no fog would be nice too.
-
Right, I've uploaded the images, one by one. I don't know what it is, but for my mac the uploader is pure paff, regardless of browser. Maybe it's because I use iphoto and it doesn't like the way the images are stored?
Anyhow, You have the pics now. Hope they work out well

Not long, maybe 3-4 minutes. It was reward enough seeing the looks on the faces of the lift staff!
It would have taken longer, but some of the 'fruit' had, er, somehow already disappeared..

Aizu Kogen Takatsue Cheezencracker tree. A rare species with delectable fruit.

Can't see a way of Private Messaging you? Member details also offer no email. Might be me being an idiot though.
EDIT - looks like I'm too new for school. Could you please let me have messaging privileges?

Yeah, I'm trying to upload the Pics to SJ, but the uploader seems borked. At least for a Mavericks-running MBP with a firefox browser.
I can upload singularly, but honestly that would take forever.
Anyone else having troubles with the uploader?

Okidoke! I'll have to do it later, though- graduation ceremony calls (my job, not mine!)

Date of visit: March 1, 2014. Early morning to 4pm
Snow Conditions: Early morning corduroy, turning quickly to crust, them melting to slush later. The groomers did their very best with what snow they've had, but it wasn't Top Dog quality by a long shot.
Ability Level: Improving/Intermediate, free run
Set-up: K2 Raygun161 (All Mountain Rocker), centered weight and 15/-13 angles (goofy), highbacks at 12.

I'll write a review proper if I can, but I'll just pop a few words and pictures here now.
Long story short, the resort itself is good, spacious, with a fun variety of runs and also off-piste paths. However, the snow is definitely sickly at the moment; the resort received a dusting at the end of the day, but I'm not sure it's sticking. Vegetation is starting to show. That said, on days where there is lots of pow, Takatsue can be great. I've been on a couple of pow days and it is beautiful. This year has been poor for snow. People are fewer than in other resorts, though. I prefer this, and had a good couple of runs on my own this morning.
Also, the lifts suck. As in, they tend to wipe people out frequently on the higher lifts because they go too fast or the ground isn't suitably cleared.
What I really loved were the top runs once the weather cleared up, and I could actually use my camera(phone) and the slush suited my stick more. As a relative newbie, riding a rocker on icy crusts when you can't break a carve is a pain. Literally. I just wish I could link the top runs with my favourite lower ones; flowing down a solid 5k run while being able to break into the trees and 180 off the banks would be amazing!
This is how bad the visibility was in the morning:
This is a similar area after grabbing food at 10:30..
More people came after the weather cleared, but they also went back in doors after it all went sidways
Last but not least, I couldn't spot any cheeses, but I did see a particular cheese plant... The fruit disappeared pretty quickly!
How is that?
-
Any cheese sightings?
You'll have to see the report!
So, The morning was a write off, the afternoon... actually was pretty good! Managed to get some pictures and a little off-piste in. But I honestly feel that Aizu's season is finishing sooner rather than later; there were slips and exposed veg on many of the borders.

View from about halfway up. Thankfully it's cleared up now, and there some snow scheduled to fall in the next hour. Not that it means anything to me, but hopefully people get to enjoy tomorrow.
-
Yep, up top it's fog as far as the eye can see (120m)
No pow to speak of.
Really empty though, so there's a plus!
-
Wellp, one look around and you can see this place hasn't had a dusting of snow in a while. Maybe up top will be better..

I like to blend in, like a ninja!
Behold, my lethal skillz.
On the way now, watching looper an--
I FORGOT THE CHEESE.
:'(
Bollocks. I'll have to do something with whatever the shop has.

Brown dirty snow is not nice is it
-
Pies, that didn't half make me giggle. Good work!
-
Yeah the PM2.5 tends to scare people away from going outside, so yeah maybe some of the resorts will be more empty because of that.
Don't think that will have any effect in this area, Kanna?
I hope so, I love hogging the bed, so to speak.
As per other thread, I'm heading to Aizukogen Takatsue tonight, after a full 5 hours afternoon/evening of training and coaching. Gonna sleep well on the train at least.
Any suggestions for my film of travel monotony?

It's ridicularse in the capital today. No suit jacket for the first time this year. At this rate, I'll be boarding in my Bermudas tomorrow!

Just re-read that. No honest idea why. It was of course before i became a convert to Ride (thanks zerker). And ride are owned by k2, and they kinda share tech and designs a bit if memory serves me right. So maybe i do really hate K2 and have some legitimate reason to do so, but now i have the k2/ride rosy tinted specs on, its really hard to even contemplate why. What makes it more intriguing was this was around the time the happy hour was first released, and ill be honest, i realllllllly wanted that board. I also wanted the slayblade as well since it kept winning goodwood.
The goodwood award was what swung my raygun purchase as well. Before that there was a Turbo Dream 159 on sale at a nearby Sports Alpen at a ridiculous price, but someone snarfed it before I came back with the money. Different kind of board I know, but it did look hella fun.
I wish i wrote more or at least elaborated...- 1

Oh man, this is one of them rites of passage, isn't it. CULT FORUM!
...will this do? Do I have to eat it there as well??
-
I notice some people here are rather delicious with their use of the camera. Just wondering what they do to bring their kit along?
I can't stay upright long enough to dare think about bringing my DSLR, but for those who do is there a particular bag or tip that they have?
Is it proper sacrilidge to take pics using a 5S? Is there a winning (and cost friendly) case that helps in the event of sheer idiocy?
Question Marks?

Have a good time! I didn't know where that was and had to look it up. It's a good sized resort. Their website has the byline
TONIKAKU YUKISHITSU GA II! GOKUJOU POWDER SNOW WO SUBERU!
I've only ever seen the word "gokujou" next to kalbi that's too expensive to feed to my kids down at the yakiniku, but I'm sure it must be amazing.
Daburupōsuto sumimasen!
Yeah, I go there as a failsafe. Runs aren't anything special, but there is some tree fun to be had and it's not famous enough to have every man and his dog (literally, by some recent photos) messing up your jam.
If I can get a decent bakaproof case, I'll try and get footage/review done l, as the last one is a few years ago?
Can't do much on the black runs yet, though. Maybe next year.

I'm hopefully not done either. School holidays FTW.

Everyone has an 'I was there when...' moment in their lives.
This one was bloody scary. Now whenever even a little tremor happens, I take it very, very seriously.
I can't believe that even after only 3 years they are talking about a return to nuclear.
