yeah sadly. I'm gonna try Kiroro one more time then put my board away

Quick question. Should my base wax be for a lower or higher temperature than my top wax? At the moment I'm using gallium purple (-4~+3) but I think I'm gonna go to a blue (-12~-3) so is the purple ok for a base coat? or should I buy the blue extra base wax?
I just made the switch from purple to blue (Gallium). Its lasting much better and I haven't needed to wax as much. But i guess it depend on where you are and what you are doing.

why not put your truck on the Naoetsu -> Otaru Ferry, in Hokkaido next day.
But don't stop at Hakodate. Drive straight through!!!
I've spent most of this season watching the clouds go around the local park.
I should have bought new skates this season

Looks like Wednesday onwards will be better.

So while waiting for the snow.
I've been reading through the forums. And especially this backcountry section.
Man, it looks fun.
I know I'm more than a few seasons away from being good proficient enough to head in to the wild.
I wanted to ask a couple of questions.
How long before you were ready to go into the backcountry?
And what are the skills and techniques I could/should be practising now that would help me in the future.
cheers for any advice.

Hakodate Nanae 7e.
Shes not much of a looker. But as a beginner she suits me fine.
I booked super early

Last year was my first full season of snowboarding and I spent money on a new jacket and trousers. That's the clothes taken care of.
This year I've decided to buy a board (2012 Gnu carbon credit) and boots (ride anthems) to replace my shitty hard-off stuff.

I've been using Gallium violet wax (-4 to +3) but I've just noticed the price has shot up.
Can anyone recommend a good cheap wax?
-
The angry snowboarder is independent is he not?
True.
Edit: I'm an idiot who shouldn't be allowed on the internet.
-
I agree with most of what is being said.
I guess my point is that for the majority of other objects. Be it skis, movies, toe nail clipper or beer.
There is a third party website giving critiques and opinions that isn't attached to a shop.
( OK so i couldn't find a site on toe nail clippers.... and i'm sure you could find some flaws with the linked sites)
But with snowboards every review is either in a shop or a forum.
Why isn't there any independent reviews for snowboards and snowboard equipment?
-
Every item I look for a review on equipment it just leads to a shop repeating the same company blurb.
Where do you look for good user based information on the net?

Murasaki Sports (Pivot building on the main road from JR Sapporo station).
7th Street Cafe (if thats the name....walk my dog past there most weekends!!!) is expensive and only have Salomon and Yonex boards, not sure about boots!
theres a small show in maruyama near Seiyu, not sure of name but sign says "Sams Bikes" above it. Can rent Moss boards for ¥2,000 a day there!!
there's a shop in Tanuki Koji, nearest end to Sapporo TV Tower.
Try Xebio Dome, Shin Sapporo have one and there is a huge one with a waterfall inside, it's near to Fukuzumi (Sapporo Dome).
Also, Sapporo Factory and Parco sometimes have snowboard pop-up-shops in them, worth a visit. (Sapporo Factory is close to Bus Center Mae subway station and Parco is next to Odori subway station)
hope this helps
Yes. Yes it does.
edit: i'm dumb

My Burton socks got ruined last winter by getting caught up on some Velcro (stupid boots..... mutter..... grumble.......) But they were toasty while they lasted.
-
Thanks for the responses.
I
Murasaki Sports is pretty good I believe.
My friend in Sapporo recommended Murasaki Sports. It seems like the most convenient place for me to get to. I guess every where is expensive.
But like TubbyBeaverino, I really thought that Hokkaido would be chock-a-block with snowboard shops. Maybe its too late to support the local places

Hi.
Could anyone recommend some good snowboarding shops in Sapporo. I need some new boots and my local shops tend to have a limited selection
cheers
