  1. Quick question. Should my base wax be for a lower or higher temperature than my top wax? At the moment I'm using gallium purple (-4~+3) but I think I'm gonna go to a blue (-12~-3) so is the purple ok for a base coat? or should I buy the blue extra base wax?

I just made the switch from purple to blue (Gallium). Its lasting much better and I haven't needed to wax as much. But i guess it depend on where you are and what you are doing.

  2. So while waiting for the snow.

I've been reading through the forums. And especially this backcountry section.

    Man, it looks fun.

I know I'm more than a few seasons away from being good proficient enough to head in to the wild.

I wanted to ask a couple of questions.

How long before you were ready to go into the backcountry?

And what are the skills and techniques I could/should be practising now that would help me in the future.

    cheers for any advice.

  3. I agree with most of what is being said.

I guess my point is that for the majority of other objects. Be it skis, movies, toe nail clipper or beer.

There is a third party website giving critiques and opinions that isn't attached to a shop.

    http://www.ski-review.com/

    http://www.mrqe.com/

    http://www.thebeercritic.com/

( OK so i couldn't find a site on toe nail clippers.... and i'm sure you could find some flaws with the linked sites)

But with snowboards every review is either in a shop or a forum.

Why isn't there any independent reviews for snowboards and snowboard equipment?

  4. Murasaki Sports (Pivot building on the main road from JR Sapporo station).

7th Street Cafe (if thats the name....walk my dog past there most weekends!!!) is expensive and only have Salomon and Yonex boards, not sure about boots!

theres a small show in maruyama near Seiyu, not sure of name but sign says "Sams Bikes" above it. Can rent Moss boards for ¥2,000 a day there!!

there's a shop in Tanuki Koji, nearest end to Sapporo TV Tower.

Try Xebio Dome, Shin Sapporo have one and there is a huge one with a waterfall inside, it's near to Fukuzumi (Sapporo Dome).

Also, Sapporo Factory and Parco sometimes have snowboard pop-up-shops in them, worth a visit. (Sapporo Factory is close to Bus Center Mae subway station and Parco is next to Odori subway station)

    hope this helps

    Yes. Yes it does.

    edit: i'm dumb
