Most of the Aussies and Scandies should have cleared out so other than japanese boarders you shouldn't have much competion for the good stuff. The groomers are always pretty crowded on weekends with local groups. The forecasts looking good so enjoy.

There's a great doco on this very subject called " Trinity and Beyond The Atomic Bomb Movie" Well worth a look.

Enjoyed the read as well. How steep would you call that terrain in the photos ?

Following further discussion with the Jellyfish I have been advised that the weather forecast is good for 7 days .They advise me not to have much confidence in long range forecasts. At this stage JMA are predicting it to warm up over the next week but still looking at it getting colder than normal in March. I wouldn't say winter is over just yet.
Let's hope so. I certainly am not ready for spring.

Good chance most of us will outlive our parents ( that's me) . If you have a good relationship with them make the most of it while their still here.

Don't spoil it. Let them remain in blissful misbelief that Niseko is the centre of the universe and their money is well spent.

So tb the ski jo will gladly refund your lift ticket because you purchased said ticket based on their snow report and conditions were not exactly as you expected ??
-
The snow reports are posted by the sales/marketing division of the ski jo so they don't have any choice but to put a positive spin on conditions. At my winter job the running joke is that sales/marketing hsn (height new snow) measure is always 25 cm higher than the official measure in the study plots.
there's a difference between positive spin and bullshit.........like I quoted, Rusutsu's official FB page (which I assume is also run by the same department as those in other ski-jo's) said to "bring your sunglasses and suncream for awesome views and top groomers"........that is positive spin, highlighting the positive aspects of the conditions.....some people do like it better when its sunny and the groomers are perfect corduroy....... but its also the truth......there's nothing wrong with that. But saying its powder snow and great conditions when it isn't, thats bullshit and downright lies...........that isn't acceptable
Agree with what you say, These are commercial ski areas. They advertise. Snow reports are advertising. Make your own decision as to their veracity or otherwise. If you go up the hill buy a ticket and have a bad day it's not like the ski jo forced you to part with your money. Caveat Emtor (buyer beware).

If the ski Jo is open for the day I can't see them saying " don't come today it's not worth it" on their snow report.

Shitsureina gaijin.cool vid. Good job I wasn't in that sushi shop; would've picked up the camera and dipped it in soy. -
Ast2 course in hakuba next week.
I would consider nzmsc avi 1 as an option, this is the 7 day prerequisite industry recognised course for the ski patrol and ski guide pathway.
just an idea, may not be your thing.

why not put your truck on the Naoetsu -> Otaru Ferry, in Hokkaido next day.

Can you all please end this and get on with your lives. No winners on this thread.

I left oz in 2002, we all have our own paths to follow, the hateful comments don't achieve anything. Out of interest, I'm in niigata as I write, blowing a blizzard for the last 12 hours, tomorrow looks good.

Sounds like Mr Chinn was guiding the group. Some of us have literary skills ( not me) Find the dbag term offensive as I'm sure would Mr Chinn. Don't understand Ben Affleck reference. All i could think reading through this was: how the **** is it fair that this douchebag gets to ride the same ridiculous lines as JJ and can write like a ****ing beast?Stupid Ben affleck!

Better to avoid the f'ers in the first place, but, even the most experienced sometimes still get caught.

Thats easy, dont go to Niseko. plenty of other places to choose from.

Old banger commuter bicycles, surprised you havent heard that.I dont recall seeing anyone riding their treadlies on the streets of tokyo wearing helmets. Just the way things are in Japan i guess.
Wot in the name of the wee man is/are "treadlies"?

Myoko was very crowded with foreign visitors this year and that's being polite about it. If this is the future trend then I would not recommend going there.
