  1. I think I found it. Ishiuchi Hanaoka. Small resort, but I see they are offering a three day 7,500 yen lift ticket
  2. These google earth pics are hard!! I'm thinking tiny and low elevation hopefully in Niigata. Koide Ski Area?
  3. I ended up having a pretty good morning session at Kawaba on Saturday. hiked up to some runs where the lifts aren't running yet and the snow was pretty nice. By noon the snow gotr really heavy though. I bought the 6 run pass, so I decided to go home early and save the runs for latter.
  4. Muika, you should come over to gunma on a really clear day and go to either Kawaba or Tenjin. The views are amazing. A big part of my enjoyment on the mountain is also the views. So out of the three you chose, which one has the best views on a clear day?
  5. I get over to Niigata alot, but tend to not make it past Naeba and Kagura. If I were to drive a little farther where would you recomend going. Besides Granview of course.
  6. You got it! It is Yatsugatake and the peak in the background is Akadake. Really is one of the most interesting spots in Japan I have been to. There is even an onsen with an amazing view of the mountain below one of the peaks. I definitely had boarding on the brain on this hike. The backcountry would be amazing (but potentially very dangerous). I did slide a little bit on the trail in my boots. Anyway bring on the next pic!
  7. No to all above. All right. new clue. You can see Mt. Fuji, the chuo alps, the north alps and the south alps from this mountain. I will take the name of the mountain or the name of the peak in the background. the peak is over 2800m
  8. I have seen this mountain from a number of Skijos. It is one of the tallest mountains in Japan which is not in the Alps.
  9. No, not Hotaka either. It is a very high mountain but not in any of the three sets of Japanese alps (中、北、南)
  10. No it isn't Yariga. This mountain is not not quite as spearlike. That is I really good guess though.
  11. I might get some new snowboarding pants. I've literally had the same pair for 14 years! The are ruined, but I just put a shell, that I found near the the top of Mt. Hotaka (Gunma), over the top of them so water doesn't soak through. Does this post make me sound cheap?
  12. Yes, those are rocks in the forground. The picture was taken from a ridgeline before I climbed the peak in the background. A little clue. The pic was taken during golden week 2011
  13. I tried to post this a couple days ago but was breaking the rules. But after getting the last pic I'm up, so who can figure out where my profile pic was taken?
  14. I don't think I could have gotten that one without the powerlines. They run pretty close to my house. Was that image flipped? I swear I found the same picture but it was backwards.
