Booked today for the last 2 weeks in Jan. Going back to Niseko, although we are going to hire a car so we can venture a bit further!

Don't worry ILoveZao. The AUD/JPY has picked up a little since and it at about the same as last year. So not so bad. Although not such good news for the Brits and USA. -
There is a Niseko Express and it leaves around 8am and returns at 4pm (approx). Not sure if it goes all the way from the airport or just from Sapporo.

Oh....count me in as well

Not committed yet Keeping my fingers crossed

Won't be changing any AUD to Yen in a hurry. Gone from 87 to 77 in the last month.

Is this through a travel agency Seemore? As I am looking to book my flights at the moment but you can't book all the way through to Sapporo on the Qantas site. Thanks
Yep package airfare through an agent, can't be done online with Qantas.
Generally needs to be purchased with some form of land content, hence package airfare.
Excellent thanks for that acpowman. Such a bummer they cancelled those direct flights from Perth to Tokyo. -

A few thousand!! I only paid AUD$266 for a family of four for 3 weeks and got it in writing that they would cover injuries off piste within resort boundaries. Little did I know that would be the least of my worries
I did make sure that I had unlimited medical.
If you are looking for cover that includes back country then there are lots of postings that give heaps of valuable info on this site!

Family of four snowboarders......although 3 can ski!
-
Are you refering to cover for off piste skiing as an extra benefit Korbzy?

I am very curious about the hospital bill as the insurance company took care of all of that directly. They also paid the extra accommodation and airline tickets up front as well.
I lodged a claim for over $7,000 AUD in incidentals though when we came home.

I have been waiting for the opportunity to post this just so others see how badly it can go wrong when it does.
All good now thanks fukdane, pretty scary at the time though

After reading these posts for a long time I was more focused on being insured for off piste injuries when I took out our travel insurance. Arrived in Niseko, trip to hospital for number 2 son as he was breathing in short gasps, ambulance to Teine Hospital where we stayed for two weeks. He was not allowed to fly for another two weeks after that.
Forteen days of hospital treatment including multiple xrays, CT scans, four general anaethsetics, extra hotel for number 1 son and hubby, multiple train trips back and forth to Niseko, accommodation in Niseko for another two weeks, food and new airline tickets to come home.....would of had to take a second mortgage on the house to pay for it. All for $460 for the family.
I always say people are crazy not to take out insurance when travelling.
